It is a realistic portrayal of heroin use. It does contain quite a lot of humour which reflects the reality that using drugs can be fun (otherwise people would not start to use them) but it certainly shows more of the downsides of drug usage and the devastating consequences on one's life and the terrible effects on those people around them.Although Trainspotting was made 20 years ago it has, in my view, aged very well. The issues it raises are, sadly, still very relevant in society today.Although this is not a review of T2 I would also thoroughly recommend that film and would certainly suggest that before seeing T2 one should see Trainspotting first as T2 is a sequel that I do not think would work well as a stand alone film as one needs to understand the journey the characters have been through to get to where they are in T2.The acting in Trainspotting is excellent, I would particularly note Jonny Lee Miller's Scottish accent which he kept throughout the making of the film and was so good that Ewen Bremner (Spud) was shocked to hear him speak with an English accent and discover he was not Scottish at the wrap party.An excellent film (of course contains very strong language and scenes of drug usage as one would expect with an 18 certificate). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected *by W***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2022* I was under the impression that this film was actually about train spotting which is not one of my interests , this film is really interesting its about a group of young people who want more fun in there lives but realise their choices are not easy .
