Product Description ------------------- Crazy Jack figs come from an project we have worked with since the early 1980's. We had been buying conventionally grown figs from these farmers since the late 1970's but when we wanted to source figs, we found that there were none. Working with these farmers, we made commitments to buy their production and they made commitments to farm ally, with advice on methods and provided by agronomists from the Good Food Foundation project. The project has been a massive success, and each year we have returned to buy more figs and to help more farmers convert to farming. Crazy Jack figs are cropped later than most figs because they are grown in valleys much higher than most for fig growing areas. This means the figs are slower growing , have thinner skins and we believe a much superior flavour. When they started spraying the land, Jack said it would be dangerous and would lead to problems. "It’s progress", they said, "you’ve got to move with the times. You can’t put s in the soil without suffering the consequences," Jack said. "You’re crazy", they told him. "I’d rather be crazy than poison our planet," Jack replied. They didn’t listen then, but now more and more people are recognising the benefits of eating . As the interest and demand has grown, so has the quantity and range of products available. Jack doesn’t cut corners in his desire to provide the best possible food at reasonable prices. He chooses his supplier partners carefully, and takes all appropriate quality control measures to ensure that the highest quality product available reaches the consumer. Jack works with people who have the skills, experience and commitment to ensure that only the best goes into his range.
