Coffee Table book or Cookery book shelf classic, nicely done, may not appeal to all as it is F&M recipes not fashion recipes.
A fun book, and certainly an iconic addition to a cookery book shelf, not simply for the colour and plethora of recipes. A tad ironic that the first recipe I chose to cook first. Marmalade Tea Bread is an icon, it was in the lauded recipes of the publishers pre launch blurb, a slight shame that the proof reader was not a cook, in the recipe pre notes it says that the sultanas soaked in tea provide the backbone of the dish and that is the last reference we see of sultana or tea in the recipe! I rang F&M and just said, could I have the rest of the recipe please, which is 100g of tea soaked sultanas, I used Tetley and steeped for 2 hours which is not as good as overnight, and stirred them in having strained at the mix it all in point. I found it funny in a ironic way and it doesn't detract from the book thus 5 stars.

Excellent, traditional cookbook
I bought this book as a gift and it was absolutely beautiful. Excellent quality paper and binding and the pictures added a lot. The writing itself was also worth reading - unusual for a cookbook!I've been told that all of the recipes were as expected - all have worked really well.Really happy with this purchase and would buy it as a gift again.

Good book but delivered damaged
I have wanted to add this book to my cookbook collection for a while and saw the price on amazon at a discounted rate, so ordered it. However, the book is wonderful as expected but yet again, Amazon delivered another book with a dented and crinkled corner on the front cover, which was disappointing. What do you do to the books Amazon?

Tom Parker Bowles is a Genius! This Cookbook puts the delicious back into food! Wonderful photographs and drawings! Everything looks mouthwateringly good! Gave to my cousin for Easter: she loves it ! Bought for myself on Kindle: I love it! Can explore and enjoy without damaging the book, and follow recipes without having to keep the book pages open :) Will definitely give this as a gift to other family members and friends. Super present!

A fantastic, elegant book, full of classic recipes
This is a lovely book. It’s very elegantly put together by Tom Parker Bowles and particularly special if you have visited Fortnums. The recipes are classic, classy, yet generally simple. There are a fair few British classics in there which i’m Eager to try. This is a lovely cookbook to get some inspiration for a dinner party and it looks lovely on our ‘cooking book shelf’!

Beautiful book from an Iconic institution....
A beautiful book. The recipes are plentiful and wonderfully presented with full detail and stunning illustrations. The book certainly harks to the past in the most perfect way - some recipes are delightfully twee. Even the cover of this hardcopy is stunning presented in Fortnums iconic colours. Even if you do not intend to cook this a book worth reading for its own pleasure alone.Very pleased. Well packaged and well presented with excellent delivery from Amazon.

Great book, lousy delivery
The book itself is fab, fun recipes, love the artwork. But l bought it as a gift and it came in a ripped box with a damaged corner, which sucks because now I can’t gift it anymore.

Great book with wonderful old fashioned recipes and interesting use of graphics
First, the seller did not remove some newspaper articles of the previous owner --this was a real find! I wish this happened more often. Second, the recipes are stunning classics that will be new most Americans. In a way it compares to Stella Park's book of Iconic American Desserts: recreating the recipes of a nation. The photos are in focus for 25% of the image and the rest is soft focus--subtle and effective. Graphics from the F&M centuries old history/catalogs are sprinkled throughout the book. The Garibaldi Biscuits, known as "squashed fly" to kids, is simple but delicious, being neither too sweet nor too rich, yet still managing to satisfy. Maybe it is the contrast of flaky cracker with squashed gooey raisins.

Molto british
Libro molto bello e curato, con splendide immagini, alcune delle ricette però mi sono sembrate poco invitanti. Spettacolari i dolci.

Bien
Recetas muy interesantes, pero echo en falta imágenes (no todas las recetas vienen con foto) y la calidad del papel me parece demasiado rústica para un libro de categoría.
