Hi, I intend to use this to throw away used cat litter and their mess. Is it odour proof???

The idea of this Caddy is to put a disposable bag in it before you put kitchen waste ...eg Potaato peelings etc in it. The when the bag is full you put the bag in a bin outside the insert another bag in the Caddy. Occasionally it is beneficial to wash out the Caddyin case there are any odours resident init. I would not advise putting cat litter in it .

Can the lid be detached to insert the bin liner around the caddy? And got for thorough deep clean?

The lid can be taken off and I suppose a liner can be used and then snap the lid back on. Hope this answer helps.
