1 Case HUMANITARIAN DAILY RATION MRE - RANDOM MENU - Inspection date of 10/2022 or Newer

The seller was fine. Beware: These will make you fat if you eat these other than as emergency food. Very nutrient and calorie dense. Might make someone used to good wholesome food ill - very well thought out product though. You'd eat it if you really needed to. In that respect - these are almost unbeatable. Not much worse than a MRE which has meat in it, but then again I don't NEED to eat meat every 4 hours like some people demand. They're very basic. The average American isn't going to like these so much. At 3 bucks a meal these obviously aren't in high demand. I keep a couple cases around for emergency use. There's a lot to be said for their ease of use and portability. They could slide around for weeks in the bottom of a boat and still be ok. I could eat them for 2 days without too much bother but I would not be too happy about it. Again, these are dense. The crackers alone are 170 calories and they aren't yummy either. SHTF FOOD. If you buy these get a couple cases of Snickers bars cause you'll want something sweet and gooey. Nothing in these are that tasty and you'll really want something awesome cause these are very blandish. I can't figure out the variety selection in a case. I opened 3 bags and they were all the same... Bummer. They shine in their ease of deployability - they can be air dropped w/o a chute and starving people don't write their congress people too much about the cuisine. They're a bargain if you look at what it probably cost to build them. You can actually buy a pallet of these (480?) meals for like 1600 bucks but you'd have serious serious health issues if you ate 480 of them. These are predominately made of beans and rice so really you could just make similar fresh food at home from dried stock for much less and avoid whatever food preservative toxins they put in food like this. These just shine in their portability and no brainer, no fuss usage and deployment. If you're looking for emergency or durable food, then likely you can find a use for these if you apply your mind to the planning. And they're Halal and Kosher! So you've got that big concern taken care of. Remember to buy Snickers... And remember each package is about 2100 calories in sum total.

Box arrived unbroken and no signs of water damage or improper storage. The variation isn’t great. I am not sure if these operate on a menu system like US MREs do, but if so it must be a 2 menu system. I have eaten or opened half of them so far. One bag each labeled 1-5. Each bag contains 1 accessory pack, a fig bar, 2 packs of regular MRE crackers, one strawberry jelly, one peanut butter, one pack of unfrosted strawberry poptarts, one shortbread cookie, one lentil stew entree, and one other entree (2 beans with tomato sauce and 3 pasta with tomato sauce). Everything tastes alright. Although it would suck if I hated lentils or poptarts. I wish they came with heat packs and I wish they were vegetable crackers rather than regular ones, but they are perfectly fine as is. I got a case produced by Wornick Company with a production date of 08-26-22 and an inspection date of 08-25. For $3 per meal. It’s not bad. I’ll probably buy them again.

I'll admit that this purchase was out of curiosity... So, it appears to be either an overrun or surplus production of a ration that is normally sold to the government for distribution in famine-stricken parts of the globe. Oddly, however, all of the messages, descriptions and other copy is all in English. Perhaps that was figured out and these were sold off in error. Anyway, I ate one and found it to be a bit bland, but generally nourishing. For breakfast, Pop-Tarts, lunch a soup-like package and dinner a vegetarian stew. No item required heating. Two cookies plus strawberry jam and peanut butter packets for adding to the cookies. Utensils, napkin, salt and pepper included. It's not going to win any awards for culinary arts, but it has almost 2,000 calories that will go a long way to sate hunger. The only challenge was the packaging was very sturdy and difficult to open without scissors or a knife. For $3 each, it was a bargain and great for vegetarians on camping trips! (That's not me.)

The secret to making the entrees taste better is to remove them from the package and add cup of water to them when you microwave them, or heat them in a pan when you're camping. They become a nice thick soup style broth. It works great with the crackers. If you use the peanut butter on the oatmeal cookie, and the strawberry jam on the shortbread one, they make everything much more palatable. So far all of the ones I've eaten have been relatively fresh. Variety is limited, but they weren't meant to be anything more than edible emergency rations. They're worth the investment. *Pro Tip* If you add a small can of beans to any of the entrees while preparing them the way I mentioned, it really does make them into enough food for one day for most people camping. Entree and a can of beans w/1 cracker square + Cookie and jam or PB (morning meal) Entree and a can of beans w/other cracker square + other cookie and remaining PB or Jam (evening meal) You still would probably want some snacks if you're hiking, or it's cold, though.

I have purchased several boxes of these Humanitarian rations from another supplier and recently decided to try another supplier because the price was a little better. I was also curious if there were any differences. The biggest difference is the "Time Temperature Indicator" (TTI)which is the small reddish orange sticker on outside of package near inspection date. If the center is lighter than the dark ring, then it is fine. If the center is same color or darker than the ring, it has been compromised in terms of temp storage conditions. Doesnt make these unusable, just makes them something that needs to be worked through soon. SINCE I purchase these for both regular use AND for emergency use, I will keep my OLDER boxes with good looking TTI tucked away. So if price is right and you plan to use these within the year, then maybe give this supplier a chance, if want better reassurance that the TTI is still good, then go to the link I imbedded. I have a very [[ASIN:RA165FUN4BNPM very detailed review]] there too. THAT all being said, the rations are good. I am not going into detail as I did my detailed review on my preferred supplier. Basically each salmon-colored pouch has enough calories and such for 1 days worth of nutrition. 2 entrees (this will vary, might be repeats but not in the same pouch), some sides (crackers, cookie, poptart or something similar, PB, Jelly, salt, pepper, napkin, really good spoon, wipe, sugar, matches). To open the pouch, pull apart at top. Very durable bag. The food pouches are easy enough to get into. As with anything, the food tastes best warm. I like to dump out into bowl, add a splash of water, stir, then heat in microwave. Could be heated in your own heater pack or submerged in hot water. But absolutely can be eaten cold. I love the lentil stew and could eat that all day every day. The portions are reasonable and I am a huge volume eater. They do not contain meat, so dont be surprised. The benefit of non meat option is that the shelf life is usually better, overall cheaper, the protein content is high, and the available protein to the body is also high. Basically non meat protein is more readily usable form. If you really want meat (I am a big fan of meat too), then have some cans of something stored with this. Plenty of options out there to choose from. I really like that I can basically get two meals/1 day of meals out of a pouch and at around $40 that is only $4 per day (I think I bought this for $37, so even less). I cannot buy a pack of precooked lentils & veg for less than $4 let alone another similar meal and all the sides and accouterments. LOVE that spoon! For real.. do the math on daily living. This is a bargain. And definitely one over so many "MRE" suppliers even if they have more in them. Or could used this to build onto other meals. Just a good price for what you get. Sometimes the cookies have an off taste (any supplier). If I were hungry enough, I would not care. Nothing bad that will make me ill. I keep a few pouches in my car (I'm a big prepper that tries to have every area covered, so keeping an emergency supply of food in car is reasonable to me). But even for non emergency. Just super convenient and cheap. Keep some tucked away at office for days you dont have a lunch, or cant go get one. Or in with hiking supplies, or at home for simple meal. And yeh, definitely for emergencies. Nice to know that I can just grab a pouch and be covered for the day. Or if need be.. give to someone. Unlike some MREs, there is no heater pack (thats fine. That would drive price way up), and no coffee. Again, simple enough to plan for that. Figure out what works for you and make adjustments. Again, these are cheaper than DIY pouches and anything it might be missing usually comes down to preference.

I've been buying these for years from various vendors, but this vendor is by far the best. The cases are cheaper, in better condition, and they charge NO shipping. Other vendors charge $10 to ship this case. In addition, they are double boxed. Other vendors just ship the box the food came in, and they are so grungy when you get them, I would have to clean the boxes off before bringing them in my house. Additionally, the orange dot is still orange, not filled in gray or black like other shippers, meaning that the food has been exposed to extreme temps. I live in Texas, and during the summer, many times we don't cook because the house gets so hot that it won't cool down. So, we'll sometimes use these as a meal. We can get 2 to 3 meals out of each individual package. It's alot of food. I can eat one entree and a cracker, and I'm full for hours. Personally, we like the food, but it's not for everyone. I don't heat mine, and I usually don't even season them. If you have to have meat, then you won't want these. That's okay though, I'll buy them! :) I find the desserts, cookies, pastries, peanut butter and jelly etc. to be fine most of the time. We have had some that were pretty stale but were still edible. Those did not come from this vendor, however. For $32, you get 20-30 meals, and that is absolutely a steal! They keep for a very long time and are great for emergencies also.

The complete lack of variety in these is so bad that I'm almost call it a scam. I read multiple reviews how heavy it was on lentil stew, but I didn't realize it would be literally 100% of my meals. Unless you love eating the exact same meals, desserts and sides included, for 10 meals, I'd get something else. They aren't good entrees, but at least they're cheap. • Mine were approaching their inspection date, but all tasted fine and had staleness issues. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦: • When I opened my box, I was happy to see that my case included two of each menu type. I thought this would guarantee me variety. Instead, every single box was completely identical except for one entree, which was split between two samey options. • Nothing was particularly appetizing. Lentil stew was fine, but not good enough to eat it ten times in a row. The distinction between pasta or beans in tomato sauce is minimal and both were hard to finish. Fig bar was revolting, but if you like fig newtons it might be okay. The best things were the crackers with jam and peanut butter and the shortbread cookie.

Writing a review because I was actually pleasantly surprised. Packed in 2023, inspected 2025, and got a nice variety of menus. Opened one up to try it, had the vegetable and barley stew with rice. It was very good, and the cookies/crackers tasted good as well. Nothing was spoiled. Would definitely recommend these, the best bang for your buck and gives you a lot of calories. Excellent for preppers like myself.
