It's difficult enough trying to remove it from the base when going through a car wash! I would suggest that in addition to the clamp it comes with that you drill a small hole through the plastic base into the plastic mirror case and use a short self tapping screw to give some additional security. This mirror is the best I have come across as you can individually adjust it when sitting in the driving seat. One issue having used it for a few months now is that the screw underneath to secure it has started rusting already. Would have been better if it came with somekind of rust proof screw or plastic cap or something to cover it; that said however I don't think it'll fall off anytime soon, has stayed put for a while now even at 60-70 mph.
