In my experience they are pretty much useless if your mower blades have become really badly blunted. The best thing then is a workbench and a really large metal file or a bench grinder **Q: Will this attach to and work with a small electric screwdriver?** A: It uses a standard 6mm (¼") shaft so if your screwdriver accepts that shaft size then it will fit. These are not recommended for screwdrivers though, as they tend to have a much slower rotational speed. I am using it with a mains powered drill. **Q: Will this sharpen blades on garden shredder** A: I wouldn't think so as you would need room to get it onto the blade. Unless of course you can remove the blade from the shredder, place it in a vice or similar to sharpen it there. In which case it would do so. **Q: Will this work on chisels?** A: A powered sharpener will sharpen a blunt chisel quickly, but there’s a good chance that the fine cutting edge will become very hot against a dry grinding wheel. The steel will then lose its temper (strength), the chisel will ‘blue’, and need to be reground. Bought this to sharpen my Mountfield lawnmower blade, read the blurb & thought why not give it a try. When it arrived I removed the blade to give it a sharpen. Read the blurb on the packet, & it gives the correct angle as 55 degrees, but I did check this against the angle on the blade, which is more like 35 degrees. So I sharpened the blade, so I thought, put it back on the mower & started cutting the lawns. Problem is, it was worse than before I had sharpened it. The grass was hacked rather than cut, the grass was not all picked up & put in the collection box as normal. Have spoken to Mountfield, who state that if the angle is wrong this is what will happen. So have binned this, & bought a new blade which I should have done in the first place.
