The metal bowl is stable and does not get in the way. The paper bowls are as promised compostable and offer a much more hygienic option for us as well. Never a good idea to mix animal feed and human food, and not having to wash a bowl allows just that. A note: the recyclable bowls are just sitting in the middle of the metal ring, which is open at the bottom, from the pictures this is not clear. Again, not a problem, if anything it makes it quicker to lift-up and move the metal and replace with a new bowl without risking to tip it and pour it.The CONs: this is a BIG one. Basically the bowls are not available. We were able to buy (for about 19 pounds, so not cheap, costing more than the bowl itself [one star lost]) a refill of 50 bowls for both the 16oz and and 8oz bowls, but after that they were unavailable on amazon and anywhere else outside the US... short of paying 100+ pounds for a pack (plus shipping and customs from the US)... which is clearly not practical. This is why the bowl loses another star. Otherwise, with decently priced and easily available refill bowls it would be a must have for all eco- and health-concerned per owners.A note to Amazon: you should not stock products that are in fact unusable because the consumables they depend on are sold at extortionate prices... ### ⭐⭐⭐ Be careful not to store these bowls anywhere they can ... *by K***T on Reviewed in Canada on 30 May 2018* Be careful not to store these bowls anywhere they can absorb odours. Because they most definitely DO absorb odours.
