Create a pack using tin foil, a tin foil bag if you will. Do not soak the chips just put a handfull or two in the bag. But the bag on the hottest part of your grill it will take a while for them to get going. Dont forget to put one small hole in the tin foil bag. People normaly use more than one hole but you will get more smoke with just one. Also use the hottest part of your grate. Check out youtube for differemt methods and you will be fine. **Q: How many are there?** A: They come in a plastic container, about the same size as a1lt ice cream tub. A good price for what you get. Don't forget too soak them before you put them on the smoker  They smoked trout nicely, burgers as well **Q: what size are ciips they are for a smoke daddy generator** A: They're small chips for use in a V-shaped container placed in the gas BBQ to give off hickory smoke **Q: What is the life span of the wood chips as far as the flovour is concerned?** A: Depends what your cooking. If you are cooking a small ham i would add some at the half way point and make sure i kept the smoke on till it was cooked. Great flavour that way. If you had a big cut of meat like a pork shoulder i would use chunks rather than chips. Soaking the chips in water before adding them to your pit is a good idea as it keeps them from burning out. If cooking something like fish or something small get the smoke going straight away and let it wip till your fish is cooked saying that i would never use hickorey with fish. Good rule of tum is to experiement and eat. As chips go these are as good as the weber range. Big green egg chunks better for longer and bigger meats. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Look Perfect *by B***Y on 4 April 2016* I haven't used these chips yet but intend to use them at the weekend to smoke a brisket in the bbq. I have a smoke box to use with them and they look just right for the purpose. There will be more than enough to smoke the brisket for at least 6 hours which is what I want. I have done this before so I know roughly how many chips I need. Looking forward to it !They were shipped very quickly as well so I would use this company again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good item but........... *by J***0 on 3 April 2012* I received the chips very soon after ordering but was very disappointed in the size of the product! The chips came in a small(cute) bucket and i was surprised by how small the quantity was. I have weighed the chips,without bucket,and the total weight came to 352 grams,not a great weight. I think that the price is quite a lot for the amount of chips that you get and i am not convinced that i would buy this product again because of the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good clean woody aroma. *by P***R on 18 April 2018* Haven't used mine yet as it is still a bit early in the year, but I have given them a good sniff and cannot detect any smell of preservatives or chemicals whatsoever. The main thing you want to avoid is using any old wood that may have had pressure preservative treatment which is not going to be good coming into contact with your food.
