Review: Light but Sturdy - I took a chance and ordered the 7 metre scaffold tower. I haven't used it at 7 ms yet but I have used it at 5 ms and I am impressed. First the bad - the instructions or lack of them. They are awful! The only way to build the tower is to look at the pictures that come on the package and do your best to follow them - and good luck. It took me about 3 hours to erect the tower - not that bad. The other bad thing is the platform you stand on. (There are two in the 7 metre model) The platform is strong which is paramount of course but fixing it in place is a nightmare if your already have the tower erected. As others have written, the only real way to add the platform is to lay the tower on it's side, add the platform and then raise the platform upright again. As long as you have space it's no big problem. That brings up onto the good things. The tower is sturdy but also light. You can wheel it around by tipping the tower slightly on one side and then pulling it along. This works on level ground. But you can easily lift the whole tower with two people. My wife lifted one side effortlessly and I lifted the other. We are both in our sixties and had no problems. I do recommend getting the outriggers. Four outriggers come with the 7 metre tower and i used these with my tower set at 5 metres. They worked extremely well and I really recommend them even for the 5 metre tower. Even two outriggers would be excellent if the tower is set against a house or wall. The whole thing becomes immensely stable and I felt very safe. Again, instructions for the outriggers are - well there aren't any! And it is not self-evident how they work but persevere. There was some comment on the 'side pieces' - the red and blues 'struts' that hold the main scaffold together. Some say these are steel but mine are not. At least they do not respond to magnets. I suspect they are thin aluminum or some alloy - so I can't see the point of painting them. The paint on them - red for horizontal struts and blue for diagonal - does seem to flake off I have no problem with this. The main aluminum supports are very strong indeed and well finished - they would take a lot of weight and last a long time. The joints are clamped together with strong plastic handles - but the plastic has a metal screw embedded in them so they should tighten up and last well. I have seen large professional stepladders costing as much as my 7 metre tower so I am very pleased with it. Delivery was excellent too.
Review: A great investment - I think this is a great tower. I carefully read the other reviews so I knew what I was getting. I'm in the process of having a 2 storey house extension built. Although this tower isn't been used for the actual build I'm using it for the repointing of my existing brick work. It will be used for cladding maintenance, internal first fix, decorating, plastering and hedge trimming. I bought the additional out-rigger legs to stabilise the tower (having used a builders grade tower several years ago and managed to topple it, thankfully I'm still here to tell the tale). With the pair of out-rigger legs, I feel totally stable and safe. Pro's: - it's light weight - easy to erect [*after the first time you will need a good 3 hours to set all the end caps and safety features up. Rushing it just gets you in a muddle.] - it's aluminium (therefore I'm confident it's not going to rust) - it has good safety features in the clips which 'lock' around the poles. - it has roller feet on 1 side making it easy to move from place to place. Cons: - I can see why people are have mentioned instructions for first time set up. They were not as bad as I was expecting. But they do take some serious concentration. Over all this is well worth the investment.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can it be adjusted to use on uneven /sloping ground and what is the combined weight to transport around**
A: Have only used the 7m kit on even ground and mainly in 5m mode. It can be moved while erected in 5m mode but agree with other reviewers this is safer with more than one person. I haven't tried to move it erected in 7m mode. The link to the 7m kit on the BPS website gives more technical information. The table on there states the kit weighs 52kg and measures 2.2m x 0.6m x 0.4m. The 7m kit actually comprises of the separate 5m and 2m kits, and both kits break down into very manageable components. As a guide the disassembled kits are slightly wider / deeper than a good quality triple section short ladder and I store them stood up and secured against an inside garage wall. Haven't transported it around but I guess it could fit inside a decent family SUV or van and/or the bigger components on a roof rack. It is a very handy piece of kit but is lightweight and strictly for DIY tasks. It needs careful assembly which is straightforward once you use it a couple of times. Use of the outriggers is important plus for my piece of mind I also attached a couple of lanyards to tie it into the building, enabling me to ascend/descend it and also work 'hands free' with even more confidence. The hatchways and working platforms are tight but sufficient.

**Q: Does scaffolding come with stableiser riggers**
A: Hi. I bought a 4m + 2m extension set. When I look at the website now it looks like you can buy a 5m set or a 7m set. the 7m set is in fact a 5m set with the +2m extension. If you buy the extension set the outrigger stabilisers come as part of the package. So in answer to your question: the 5m set does not come with extra stabilisers; if you want those it is best to buy the 7m version. If it helps, the basic 4m set that I use is great for most of the work I do and I never feel the need to use the outriggers.. But I always use the outriggers when I put the extra height section on because it does make me feel more confident.

**Q: Do you get the 4 stabiliser bars shown in the picture included in the price**
A: Yes at least I did when I bought one in 2021

**Q: Are the four legs height adjustable? I need to use this on an uneven surface (woodland), so do I need to level the ground first?**
A: No they're not adjustable. We've used ours on the woodland floor to build a tower for water tanks - 2.5m high plus tanks - outriggers helped a lot (essential) but ground was firm and more or less even. The tower sank in only a little but would easily have been fine with a large piece of flat wood under each foot if need be. Robust and stable once you're up on the platform. Used a ladder to get to trapdoor in platform and it certainly felt as if it could tip over - couldn't put ladder the other way as insufficient space and not possible to thread through one side - but heavy weight, ie me, acting as counter balance and other person got up fine. Guess we really need a tall stepladder to use independently at the side to get up to platform! Perhaps trapdoor is only for lifting buckets of "stuff" up/down in reality. Once you're up on the platform it was very stable, almost surprisingly so given its light weight. Blurb says fine for stairs ie uneven but not sure how that would work unless you put one side on, say, 3rd or 4th (sufficient to span platform anyway) stair and other on landing/floor with the platform horizontal by being on different 'rungs' on each side. Doubt we have sufficient headroom on the stairs for a 5m tower though. If you're using it for branch removal I'd go for a tree saw and extendable poles (Wolff type are fine) from the ground - that's what we did to brash 45 year old unbrashed larches to 5m for construction lorry access. Took a while to do the 80m track through dense trees but hard work never hurt anyone. Like Brendanwad, I'd be chary of using a chainsaw from it even if it does feel stable - I'd hire a heavy duty tower suitable for such tasks (or someone whose job it is to do such sawing). Tower is lightweight, very easy to manoeuvre around, remarkably stable with cross braces etc in place and well worth the money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good piece of Equipment
*by T***T on 10 March 2014*

Delivered promptly and efficiently after I ordered it , at a good price. As mentioned by others the paint on the coloured bracing bars do chip easily and they were showing a lot of chips and scratches upon opening - to be honest they would probably be like this after a couple of uses so it didn't bother me that much but it suggests careless handling at the packing stages - one of the wing nuts was damaged but a few spares had been thoughtfully included so this was not a problem. The tower itself is a really good piece of equipment - apart from the instructions being under one of the platforms it is easy to assemble by yourself after the first go.I also used the pictures from the flyer a lot but it would be nice to have an IKEA type booklet to refer to?It is very light and easy to move around single handedly - it breaks down into a manageable size and I stored it neatly down the side of a shed. You can also use as much or as little of its potential as you want, making it great for full on house painting or just reaching a low gutter. Once up it is sturdy and feels much more solid and robust than it looks - if you attach the outriggers it feels amazingly secure.I've started to sand down the eaves from the tower which I always hated doing from a ladder - I think that this tower will repay the money spent in no time as I had quotes almost twice the cost of the tower for repainting the eaves etc. As with all equipment 'think safety' is vital and take care when using , but I won't go up the ladder again after using this!
