I have no links with ZestyPro apart from using this excellent product. Here's my story, which I hope will help others to understand and treat themselves (I'll keep saying it but please consult a doctor before taking on a treatment).I used to suffer badly from IBS and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) after a highly stressful period in my life (family deaths, car accident, starting a company after being made redundant and so on). I decided to look into why I felt so bad and maybe write up a book.During research for the book (which I never got round to publishing due to rapid changes in the science), I found out about the gut-brain axis. How trillions of bacteria in the lower intestine were communicating with and controlling the brain using bio-chemical mechanisms. More interestingly, I found some work had been done on how imbalance in the gut bacteria etc. (there are other organisms like viruses and fungi which may be useful or harmless) can create anxiety as well as digestive problems such as diarrhoea and constipation. It's the bad organisms that can take over after stress, antibiotics, certain processed foods, high caffeine consumption etc. I think topping up the good bacteria is essential to restoring the balance.FYI: It would also appear that too much sugar can cause IBS if it reaches the lower intestine. A good example is a lack of lactase (an enzyme in the upper or small intestine) means that lactose (a milk sugar found in loads of products sourced from milk) is not properly broken down allowing too much sugar to reach the lower intestine causing bloating and wind. This happens as one gets older, to certain racial profiles and during illness. We were never meant to drink cow's milk to the extent we do. I now use almond milk and never have animal milk. As another aside I also found out that the yeast in beer also affects me if I have more than two 660ml drinks in an evening.Anyway, I treated myself with various different probiotics with occasional meds for GAD and reported back to my doctor from time to time.I started from lower concentrations of other probiotics which seemed to help but not enough. I eventually settled on these 50 billion capsules as they helped me 99% defeat my IBS and anxiety. The feeling better did not happen overnight. I learned that morning dose was best, and not to drink hot beverages just before or just after. I still get minor bouts of IBS and anxiety but these are linked directly to the extra stresses of modern life and are easy to deal with. BTW no need to up the dose unless a qualified practitioner says so.I was told by one of the firms I dealt with that people take probiotics on holiday as protection against local gastro illness, no idea if it works, but it makes sense to me.I also take Vitamins D3 and B complex as these were shown to be low in the well man (see * below) blood test. It does not really need saying but I also play badminton and table tennis, activity is important as part of a healthy life style.This is my personal experience and I spoke to my doctor first, which is paramount when doing your own medical thing.* I have a well man test once every year or two (free on the NHS).I've rabbited on here, as usual my friend would say, but I would like to thank ZestyPro for helping me with my personal solution to IBS/GAD and hope my words helps others find solutions to the ills of the rat-race. But there is with every image of the product. When it arrived the first thing I did was recheck the product description on the Amazon website. I placed the order for this product quite quickly without reading the detail. I was more "influenced" by the photo. In every image it showed a full bottle. I was thinking 60 or 90 capsules. The picture is misleading. The bottle looked nearly empty when it arrived. With 30 capsules filling only one quarter of the bottle at the bottom. The bottle does say clearly one month supply 30 capsules. But they shouldn't show a picture with the bottle filled to nearly the top with capsules.The quality is probably very good. The price of probiotics is ofton reflected in the quality. These are 50 billion CFU. Probiotic blend. A rich variety included in the capsules.I didn't really want to pay £9.99 for 30 capsules. But I'll use them now.I can't comment on easy to swallow. As each person is different. The reason I have waited a month before writing is to ensure I can give an honest review. Thankfully, these really work. I was having trouble with food poisoning living in Asia for a bit and these helped out massively. I have been getting I'll less and my gut just feels healthier, no more bloating or anything. So much so that I have decide to continue using these. They will become part of my routine now. My only criticism is that the plastic container is way too big for the amount of pills you get.
