Sunscreen constantly. I set an alarm on my phone for every two hours to reapply. I am 48 years old and worry about 0.25 doesn't work and .5 is too strong for me to start** A: If you have never used a retinol before it is always best to start with a milder formula, and there is definitely a difference between the .25 and the bump up to .50! I was using .5, having moved up to that when I finished the .25 bottle and all went well until I did a cycling event that went into the late morning hours (finished around 11am). I wound up with a chemical burn and my face peeled for about 3 weeks! And I did use sunscreen but obviously it wore off due to sweat/exertion . My skin looked great after the peeling, but I decided that it wasn't something I wanted to deal with all summer! So I am back to the .25 during the warm sun-intensive months and will go up to .5 again after September. If you have sensitive skin (and I do somewhat), that may be the highest you will be able to go. I only use the retinol at night and use Power of Three serum during the day under moisturizer--and love that product as well.
