Around 45 minutes mixed use - excellent price / value balance, plus some tips to help you choose
Summary: easy to adjust, well made and good quality; I get about 45 minutes mixed (high and low speed) use out of a fully charged battery; cutting power and edging very good.As context, I was actually looking for a strimmer with a power cord, as I was expecting cordless ones to be a bit disappointing in performance and battery life. Doing my research, I found that a lot of people feel the same, and I also found that rechargeable strimmers are surprisingly expensive!I also found a lot of unknown brands, which were also fairly expensive, and had very mixed reviews. All this left me unwilling to purchase. So I started again, this time focusing my search on:- brand (focussing on well-known ones like Bosch and Black & Decker)- weight (as I realised this would be a potential drawback given weights of up to 3.5kg I'd found during the first search)- battery life (where I could find it - not all manufacturers give an estimate)- power (I wanted something that would be reasonable for fairly light use; I knew I wasn't going to be clearing undergrowth on a regular basis!)I found that a lot of strimmers now use proprietary blades, which can be difficult to find, cost more than nylon line, and cause regular interruptions to use as they need to be changed fairly frequently. I decided to focus on nylon line strimmers. In the end, this Black & Decker strimmer was one of two on the shortlist, and was my choice due to the price! The other one came without a battery and charger, which added another £40 or so. I won't name the other brand and prices go up and down a lot anyway, but do be aware of accidentally buying a so-called "bare" product!I've used it several times now, including clearing a friend's much larger garden. Using the a mix of the normal (5500rpm) and turbo (7400rpm) I got about 45 minutes use from a full charge, which included a significant amount of "undergrowth" clearing that I wouldn't typically be doing. Your usage will of course be different to mine, but if you're doing normal speed trimming and edging, I'd expect to get 45 minutes to an hour out of the product on a single battery charge, which is hopefully plenty for the majority of gardens. (If yours needs more than an hours trimming each session, you've probably already got a gardener anyway!)Pros:- fairly lightweight (2.1kg)- well-balanced and significant adjustment in length- easy to assemble- uses nylon line, not proprietary bladesCons:- rechargeable battery has a finite life (so get a mains-powered or petrol driven one if you need open-ended usage)Tips:- watch out for "bare" products (i.e. without battery and charger) unless you've already got the battery on other tools from the same manufacturer- check out the weight of the strimmer: there's variation by more than 1kg in otherwise similar models in some cases!- make sure you know whether it uses continuous nylon line or individual blades; I'd recommend line as it's much easier to change and makes continuous use easierOverall, I happily recommend this, and even if it's not for you, do consider if the criteria I've included in the review help you to choose your own (different) one.

Good value.
Good value product, I took advantage of a free extra battery offer available online. Battery last long enough to do the lawn edges, around the stepping stones and wall area of my medium/large size garden and a bit more . It's just as good as my previous B&D lead acid cell battery strimmer which I had for many years, only a bit lighter and easier to handle. It is very well designed and good build quality. The wheel is good when edging as it takes the weight of the machine and as I prefer the line feed type of striimer that is a plus for me. It takes about 4 hours to charge the battery so an extra one may be useful, although I have yet to need mine. I haven't needed to use the high speed setting yet either but it gives the appearance of bring very powerful and effective should you need to trim longer grass or weeds. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product for normal lawn use.

My Go-To for a Tidy Garden
I've been using the BLACK+DECKER Cordless String Grass Trimmer in my garden, and I'm pretty stoked about it. Here's why:Setup - Quick and Simple:Getting this trimmer up and running was no sweat. It was pretty much ready to go straight out of the box. Just charge the battery, click it in, and you're good to start trimming.Performance - Cuts Like a Dream:This thing has some serious power for a cordless trimmer. It zips through overgrown grass and weeds like nobody's business. The 28 cm cutting swath is a sweet spot for both precision and coverage.Battery Life - Lasts Long Enough:The 2.0Ah lithium-ion battery is a winner. It lasts long enough to get all my trimming done in one go, which is all I can ask for. Plus, it recharges pretty fast.Maneuverability - Light and Easy:It’s super lightweight and easy to handle. I can zip around the garden without feeling like I've had a full workout. No cords dragging around is a major plus.Noise Level - Surprisingly Quiet:It's quieter than I expected for a trimmer. Definitely a bonus, especially if you don’t want to disturb the neighbours (or your own peace and quiet).Overall - A Solid Choice for Garden Maintenance:If you're looking for a hassle-free way to keep your garden edges neat, this BLACK+DECKER Cordless String Trimmer is a solid bet. It’s easy to use, effective and doesn't tie you down with a cord. So, for anyone who’s after a reliable, no-fuss garden tool, I’d say give this one a go!

IT CAN COPE WITH MORE THAN GRASS
Im not often driven to write a review - but had to on this ocassion - for those who are wondering if this thing can cope with ore than lawn edging - It can - WOW! Perfect! I bought a model quite cheaply - with "considerable" cosmetic damage - and there isnt a blemish on it - Im really impressed. Ive got a big natural/wild garden - and it coped with my young nettles , docks, and even young cow parsley without a problem - Our usual MO is to get the big petrol strimmer out a couple of times a year - now I can just keep on top of the stuff as it grows, when its young before it gets woody - this strimmer obv wont handle the brambles - but anything young and still green was no issue at all - its so light and easy for me to use. Battery lasts much longer than I thought it would - I have the drill in this range - so now I have 2 batteries - 2 chargers - so Ive got enough juice for any task! VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THIS STRIMMER!

Good for a beginner like me!
Ok, so, first things first. I'm a complete novice with these things. I've never used a grass trimmer or lawn mower or whatever before. I've always used cutlass but was really getting tired of cutting grasses manually so decided to get something to make the job easier. So you can imagine, had nobody to ask what to buy nor how to use them. I started searching amazon for grass trimmers and all sorts of things came up. Then I realized there were corded ones, petrol ones and electric and cordless with batteries and all that 🤦♀️, wow. Well, I'm into gadgets a lot and love my cordless range so decided to try the latter. I selected few and whittled it down to this: Black and decker, basing my choice on reviews. It didn't disappoint. Once I got it out of the box, I fixed in the part that came with it and screwed it in, half way 🙄 (it won't go down any further 🤷♀️), charged the battery, next day, proceeded to use it for the first time but then realised I couldn't get it switched on. So I went into YouTube to watch a couple of videos which set me off. To switch it on, you have to depress the left button on the side near the switch on button together with this switch on button. It has 2 settings. 1 is for light grown grasses. 2 is for denser growth. I used both at different time depending on where I had lighter and dense growth. I still don't know how the spool string works. I guess I'll have to learn whilst I go along with it. First trial wasn't bad. I probably didnt get to the bottom of the grasses but it did a good job. I do however find the cleaning a bit worrying. There's really no way to clean it properly? U can't wash it, you can't use any harsh liquid on it, and I was really tempted to put it under the tap as it had a lot of grass stuff on it. But I ended up using a hard brush to remove the stuff. My garden is a medium sized one, so one full charged battery did it. I'm not very great with land measurements in metrics unfortunately, I'm sorry, so I can't tell how big my garden is in metrics. But I could spend about 10mins using this trimmer to do it so u work it out. The trimmer is not very great with flower branches hanging over my fence from another flat, not expecting it to be cos it's not meant for that. I am yet to know how the spool string works. Like how long it will last and when I need to replace it and all that cos right now, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just watching while I use it to see what happens. But I will definitely recommend this product. Especially for a beginner too! It comes with an 18v battery and the cable charger.

Black & Better.
There was a time when Black & Decker were in the back foot a little. Their products left room for improvement. With this one, they really got it right. I have a 52cc motor strimmer. I wanted a lighter one as my health is failing. I did a lot of homework before purchasing this. It was worth it. It’s light, powerful and works very well for a small machine. My research really paid off. It’s great value and I would recommend it highly. You will not be disappointed. It dose what it says on the box and it dose it exceedingly well. Added bonus, interest free over four months at £20 per. Can’t go wrong. Ideal for any sized garden. Great in edge trimming mode.9 / 10…….9 because I’m too mean to give it the 10 it deserves.
