SL2G 2G Multi Effect Stomplab Pedal for Guitar

This is a robust little multi-effects unit with an expression pedal that can be assigned to various parameters. For me it’s usually the wah. Vox were the originators of the wah pedal in the 60s and their iteration in this mini pedal is full of character and is tweakable to give the range and tones you want. The default setting is fine. But obviously it’s more than a wah pedal. There are also 36 amp models covering classic, modern and boutique amps. I’ve not had the experience of playing through all of these amp heads and combos in real life so can’t attest to the accuracy of these models, but I’m surprised and impressed how “amp-like” these models are to play. They respond to picking dynamics and guitar volume/tone adjustments just like a real tube amp will – play softer and you get a cleaner sound, play harder and you get a gradually increasing gain with more harmonic complexity. Vox have done this better than the various ZOOM and Behringer units I’ve been using for years – it really is a massive improvement on what I’ve been used to. It’s important to set the global output from this box to match what you’re feeding it into but this is relatively easily adjusted with a dial and a few button presses – i.e. if your output is a direct line to headphones or a recording console, or if it’s to a particular type of amp (basically Fender or Marshall type combos or a bigger stack) and the output tonality is adjusted accordingly. There’s one cool retro chickenhead knob to target a genre of music (blues, jazz, metal, rock, ballad etc) with 10 preset combinations in each bank. You can move around these presets with the two sturdy foot switches and there are two more chickenhead knobs to adjust parameters of each patch. As well as the amp models there are also many modulation settings replicating various choruses, pitch-shifters, delays, reverbs etc. But this is a small unit and some sacrifices have to be made – storing your own combinations and parameters into the 20 available user spaces takes some working out given the 2-digit LED display. It’s not as informative and intuitive as the ZOOM G5 unit for example. Another compromise it took me a while to work out is that you can’t have an overdrive/distortion/fuzz effect going into a chosen amp model as they’re all in the same bank. So you can’t choose a Big Muff into a1959 Fender Bassman 4x12 for example. But the Big Muff on its own sounds fine and isn’t a problem. But overall I’m impressed. Great amp models as long as you adjust the global output settings to what you’re playing into; very responsive and musical; sturdy build; small size; great effects; 20 user-defined preset patches. I initially found this quite a challenge to work out how to use it, as the instructions that came with it weren't very helpful (to me, at least). But thankfully, after watching a couple of YouTube tutorials, it all began to make sense. It's a heck of a pedal and because it has so many effects, sounds etc. I've ended up putting all my other pedals into a bag and dumped them out of the way, in the loft. It's sturdy, compact and looks so damn cool. I love it.

Perfect pedal for an experienced guitarist! Purchased this for my son who's an advanced guitarist. (My son aged 13) After spotting it on Facebook Marketplace, I did some research and found it here on Amazon at a great price. The reviews convinced me this would be a better option than having him build an expensive pedal board piece by piece. Though I don't know much about guitar gear myself, I could tell this was a hit from his reaction! Originally planned as a Christmas gift, but couldn't wait to give it to him. He spent over an hour going through at least 30 different sound effects, and the quality really impressed him. What I particularly appreciated was how well it worked with his existing setup - he has a VOX amp and a Crybaby wah pedal, and this integrated perfectly. The pedal really shines when plugged into his amp - he explained that sometimes effects can sound different between practice and performance settings, but this produces distinct, professional-quality sounds that translate well to both scenarios. You can clearly hear the differences between effects, and the sound quality is excellent. For the price point, this offers incredible value with its range of effects. It's perfect for someone who wants professional sound without investing in multiple individual pedals. Seeing my son's enthusiasm and hearing the quality of sound it produces, I / he couldn't be happier with this purchase! Only time will tell, but until he starts making money as a musician it's too early to spend thousands on the high end electronic stuff.

The compressor used is MXR Red Compressor, it has Fuzz Face what Hendrix used, pedal a bit small but it fits well in my donner pocket bag £50 pedal board which is an extra pocket. I have 2 pedal boards and this is a pedal board. The actual presets can be downloaded from a Facebook channel, they cannot say which devices are emulated except the VOX amps officially. Though my blackbox reloaded does display the actual amps emulated and not a number, but that had a very bad pedal and also very large, I prefer this small pedal in contrast. You cannot change the order of the pedals if you want to create your own preset. But pedals work better in their natural order, also this includes a tuner which works and a noise gate. But Amazon description is wrong it not need an AC adapter, but DC as it does accept batteries which are DC. I have tested the normal pedal power supply and it works. You do not need a special power supply for this. The preset of the U2/David Glimour Another Brick In The Wall can be found on the net, though it cannot be downloaded and patched from a computer as other models can you can add the variables manually. Also there is a YouTube channel where you can hear different presets, but you have to add them manually. It is mono but many fx units are, even the boss ME-80 seems to be, it does have stereo but I think it is mono stereo. But have this and create your own pedal board which is fun, it does not have to be either or. This is the real deal. It will not replace a personal pedal board, but it will sound as good but less personal. Preset 89 gain 4.8 Guitar humbucker bridge position, pedal pressed down. For I can't get no satisfaction - rolling stones, also works Bridge Of Sighs - Robin Tower. Preset 76 gain 5.0. Guitar in neck position with humbucker. Works for Waking Up - Elastica and The Clash - London Calling, also London Calling solo which was played backwards in the recording. For Ziggy Stardust use preset 76 which uses a fixed wah pedal as originally used. I used gain at 1.3. My guitar positioning was middle on a HSH guitar. More Bowie stuff: Preset 99 gain on 9.1,stomplab pedal halve way. I am very impressed with this unit, it is exactly what I am looking for. It is very small and compact and has more than enough effects \ sounds on it to be useful for anyone. Some of the presets are good some are not, but its all personal taste and ultimately I guess you need to connect it up to your main output e.g. amp \ pa \ mixer desk whatever it is and tinker until you get what you want. I have some experience of multi effects boards and amps having spend a lot of time using the Peavey Vypyr series, which I thought was a great bit of kit but just got tired carrying all the stuff around. I also have used a Fender Mustang Floor \ Vox Tonelab SE. Anyway they all offer their own things but I find this much easier to get to grips with and program, plus it fits very nicely in my bag and feels robust. I'm not sure about comments saying it is hard to program, I have found it simple enough tbh, actually a complete walk in the park compared to the tonelab se . Anyway I don't think you can go wrong with this at the price and I am getting sounds I am just as happy with from it as any of my other boards. The only limitation I can possibly see is only having 20 User presets, if you need loads of different sounds you may run out of space, I don't so not an issue for me.

I have just started playing again after years of neglect. I had some very old gear which I bought over 40 years ago. I saw this and read the reviews and have to say, I just started experimenting with it and I am very impressed with it''s versatility. It seemed a little tricky when I read the instruction manual which is frankly quite basic, however I needn't have worried it does far and beyond any of my expectations.

I have recently retired and one of the promises I made to myself was to pick up the guitar again as I stopped gigging about 18 years ago. I always rejected effects pedals when I was in bands, seeing them as a gimmic. I received an Amazon voucher for my birthday and having replaced everything electrical before I stopped receiving a wage, I had no idea what to buy. The only thing I still had from my gigging days was a 1962 VOXAC30, which I am unable to crank up at home, so looked for an alternative and having searched for VOX saw this as something I could use to regulate the volume, but add a bit of ooomph! to the sound. It does the job, but the annoying thing is when switching from one sound to another, the second may be four times the volume of the previous one, so that immediately negates it from a gigging option. The sounds are varied but not logically placed, I can play something with a saturated plate reverb, then the next number on the preset will be a screaming overdriven effect. If I go higher in the numbers I may find something that would have complemented the saturated plate reverb, but I had to take 20 steps to get there. In the presets, I have found that anything above the 60's is pretty unusable unless you're playing in a psycadelic death metal disco band!

Some excellent features but highly over complicated.operating manual almost meaningless so trial and error the best solution. Ok for recording and rehearsal use but I found it not the best for gigs etc. I have been using Vox equipment since the 1960’s with great results ,but don’t think this is one of their better efforts . !

Costruzione robusta ed ottima qualita’ percepita. Processore potente con 100 programmi preimpostati non modificabili, con suoni di notevole qualita’ che vanno a coprire tutti i generi possibili, in piu’ 20 effetti memorizzabili (user) con una notevole quantita’ di parametri e valori da inserire a piacimento in grado di soddisfare i piu’ esigenti. Ai fini pratici conviene memorizzare nei primi 4 o 5 programmi “user” i propri suoni preferiti e piu’ utilizzati in modo da selezionarli rapidamente con i pulsanti up e down. Un valore aggiunto e’ il pedale, che gestisce volume, Wah ed altre espressioni. Il manuale di uso al primo impatto sembra poco chiaro (no italiano) e stranamente le pagine con le scelte di tutti gli effetti e i parametri (da inserire come ho detto nei programmi liberi “user”) sono poste alla fine, dopo i manuali in inglese, francese, spagnolo e tedesco, cioe’ a pagina 63; Forse qualcuno non se ne e’ accorto e questo rende il manuale di difficile comprensione. Con un po’ di pazienza e conoscenza media di una delle lingue del manuale, in un paio di ore ci si impadronisce dello strumento con grande soddisfazione. Forse un po’ piu’ grande e quindi con un dispay piu’ esteso sarebbe stato piu’ gradito, ma credo si sia pensato alla portabilita’. Per quanto mi riguarda mi ha solo disturbato il fatto che per cambiare le batterie, bisogna svitare i quattro piedini e rimuovere l’ intero pannello inferiore, invece del consueto vano con sportello. Chi vuole usare un alimentatore non si prendera’ questo disturbo. Il prezzo e’ davvero basso e il valore notevole. Presa confidenza, lo amerete piu’ di quanto possiate immaginare. Imballo perfetto e spedizione fulminea come ci si aspetta da Amazon.

Me he tomado unos meses de uso desde que la compré para dar una opinión fundamentada. Ahí va: - Lo primero, me costó menos de 100 euros. Por ese precio no se pueden pedir milagros, pero creo que se obtiene mucho de esta pequeña pedalera: buenos materiales, bien construida, con pedal de expresión y con muchas opciones de sonido. - Cosas que me gustan mucho: la posibilidad de usarla con pilas (con unas buenas recargables aguanta bastantes horas), sumada al pequeño tamaño y que se puedan conectar auriculares la hacen perfecta para practicar en cualquier sitio, ya sea de un modo silencioso o a través de un ampli. Multitud de configuraciones que la hacen muy versátil, con una calidad de sonido bastante buena por poco dinero. - Lo que no me gusta tanto: al principio el uso no es muy intuitivo a la hora de cambiar parámetros y las instrucciones no son muy claras, pero hay unos tutoriales en youtube muy completos (buscad a Nando Moraes, los videos están en portugués pero se entiende bien) que explican incluso cosas no indicadas en el manual. Por otro lado, el pedal es pequeño y si tienes pies grandes como yo cuesta un poco usarlo con precisión, aunque es cuestión de acostumbrarse. - Lo que menos me gusta: demasiados presets (100) en comparación con los huecos para guardar configuraciones de usuario (20). Al final, aunque algunos presets me gustan otros muchos no me interesan. Poder guardar 20 hechos al gusto del usuario no está mal, pero habría preferido más slots de usuario y menos presets. A pesar de este último inconveniente creo que es muy buena compra para uso doméstico, sobre todo para alguien que quiera muchas opciones en términos de sonido sin gastarse un dineral. Para alguien que esté empezando, esta pedalera con un Boss Katana Mini permite experimentar un montón por unos 200 euros con una calidad de sonido muy decente, y como el ampli y la pedalera se pueden usar a pilas la portabilidad es máxima. En resumen, COMPRA RECOMENDADÍSIMA.

Le qualité sonore est parfaite, belle finition, utilisation assez simple dans son ensemble malgré la grosse panoplie sonore disponible. L'utilisation au pied est excellente et la pédale est bien positionnée. Je recommande ce type de pédale.
