Can this be used for gypsum?

I think it would probably leek. The joins are not watertight and it is necessary to stick on a base which is another potential leek point. It doesn't leek with silicone because of the density but even that sometimes seeps a little into the box joins. I suppose you could add a little none setting play putty into the joins and seel the base with the same, that would help make it water tight.

Do the sides support when mould filled with plaster of paris?

Hi there Emma. Yes without a doubt. As with using the mold for silicone rubber, just make sure to seal around the base to ensure no leakage. The other joints are close/tight enough with the included clips. I hope this info helps Emma and have a great day.
