## Description

Call of Duty 3 (PS2) -B- In a nutshell: After the last game became the best selling launch title for the Xbox 360, Activision aren’t wasting any time with the follow-up as you do you bit to help out with the Normandy breakout and the liberation of France. The lowdown: Despite the new digit in the title this isn’t so much a sequel to Call of Duty 2 on the 360 and PC as it is Call of Duty: Big Red One on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube. It’s by the same developer (Treyarch), there’s no PC version and it doesn’t feature three distinct armies, but instead a recreation of the Normandy breakout. That’s not to suggest it’s short on new ideas though with much larger levels than ever before and far more vehicles to control (particularly in the Battlefield like multiplayer mode). There’s also a new Resident Evil 4 style quick time event system for hand-to-hand combat where you have to hit specific buttons to sock it to the Nazi hordes. Most exciting moment: It may seem a bit shallow to go on about the game’s explosions but really, there’s never been anything as realistic as the fireworks in this game. The way the smoke moves is particularly amazing, even drifting in the wind or dispersing after a second nearby explosion. Since you ask: Although Activision has confirmed nothing yet they have hinted that original Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward are working on their own sequel, primarily for the PC. When it will come out and whether it will be translated to the next generation consoles is currently unknown. The bottom line: The best WII first person shooter looks to be getting even better. Review: Holds up well - For a PS2 game, it is still a very fun shooter. Managed to find a game of multiplayer in 5 minutes. The voices of the characters may be a bit off but that’s to be expected. Alright condition. Just an average Call of Duty experience.
Review: CoD 2 was legend, this, this is boring. - I tried publishing a review before, last year, but it didn't publish it, so i'm back for a second shot. I played call of duty big red one and loved it. It really brought that feeling to you that call of duty games do. The graphics were decent as well. This, I have to admit, is a big leap, graphics wise, from call of duty 2, the story isn't to bad either, but it's just... boring. When I first played this round a mates on his Xbox 360 I only got up to the third level but decided to get it for my ps2. But after getting into the game, even though it consisted of only 14 levels, I found it repetitive and boring. Your teammates are the worst i've seen in call of duty (except, obviously, the following games), they just stood out in the open getting shot to pieces, but of course not dying. At least in cod 2 they hid behind walls or whatever. They hardly kill anyone, in fact, the troops put around just to die kill more people than them. The enemys are pretty rubbish too. As for the levels, the American ones get boring, the Polish ones are the same, the Canadian missions aren't too bad, same goes for the sas missions. The guns aren't anything special, not as good as the other games, and, I know this is a weird thing to bring up, but the guy you play as can really re'load quickly, too quickly. Whenever you plant a charge you have to go through the whole procedure, moving the analogue sticks around to screw pieces in. I found that good and was disapointed that they scrapped it in cod 5. It's not like i'm comparing it to cod 4 or 5 i'm comparing it to cod 2, and that is a hell of a lot better.
