I purchased this wallet and I am going to do my best to answer it even though I have not examined the inner layers/materials of this wallet. Hopefully the vendor will chime in with the actual answer. When I pull out that removeable id it has the same "stiffness" and bending it causes the same "crackling sound" as the external portion of the wallet. That leads me to believe that perhaps it does have those properties that shields rfid.
