They are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac solution. These inks can be applied with brush, dip pen or airbrush and are widely used by designers, calligraphers and artists as well as illustrators. This set includes eight colours in 14ml bottles including: Sunshine Yellow, Vermillion, Deep Red, Purple, Ultramarine, Brilliant Green, Peat Brown, Black. Actual contents may vary. Strangely I saw no reviews or recommendations for Winsor and newton, which puzzled me because winsor & newton is a well recognised brand in art supplies. So when I ordered this it felt like a bit of a gamble. I need not have worried; the quality of this ink is amazing. The ink lays down really nicely and provides a nice deep black. This is important because a lot of the reviews often criticised other brands for dull and weak blacks. Also, I found the Winsor & newton ink retains its boldness on the page after time, which is extremely good, as I've heard some brands can fade a lot after time. I perhaps should have bought a smaller bottle of this to test first but I ended up gambling on this large bottle because it was such a great price. The gamble paid off. Unfortunately they are not recommended to be used with a fountain pen or ink converter as they may cause clogging. I hope this helps. The colours differ in each set but there is a black in each set. **Q: I was just wondering if these are Non-Waterproof Inks?** A: The inks are water based and can therefore be diluted. They are obviously not waterproof.
