Very versatile
If you're new to audio interfaces don't be afraid to get this. I had a 2 input interface from a supposedly better brand and had all sorts of problems with crackling and poor quality sound, especially with the playback mix when playing things like YouTube videos. Upgraded to this and all those problems just went away. Plug and play, off we go. For reference I use an M1 Mac Mini.I have 2 synths and a gaming PC plugged in to inputs 3 through 8 and I use the front two inputs for various things from FPGA devices to guitars. I have a Behringher patch bay sat underneath that allows me to override any of these inputs without ever having to mess about in the back of the interface. It works very well indeed and for far less money than some other brands would cost for the same thing.I didn't bother with a rack or anything I just bought two 2U rails that you would fit inside the rack and bolted the two units together. The weight of them joined together holds them steady enough on the desk.

Solid and professional piece of equipment
I'm not a professional musician but to me this feels and operates like a professional piece of kit.I have four keyboards in a home set up and previous to acquiring this had been using a two input Presonus audio interface, which meant that I could only use two keyboards in mono or one in stereo at any one time. While I'm not an octopus and able to play four keyboards simultaneously it meant that each time I wanted to play a different keyboard I'd have to keep plugging and unplugging the inputs which was a pain. This solved the problem and allowed me to have four keyboards permanently connected in stereo. However it also allows the versatility of multiple instruments being inputted at the same time, so I'd imagine would be ideal for bands using it in a live set-up. Compared to the Presonus unit which feels 'tinny', this appears heavy and solid with all the knobs and dials having a quality feel to them.So far I've been really impressed with this interface, and for the price would consider it to be a bargain.Highly recommended.

Perfect for transferring analogue tracks.
This is an excellent unit that works extremely well for the function I needed. I use it to take 8 analogue track outputs from my multitrack tape recorder (Fostex R8) straight into my DAW (Reaper).I can then edit the tracks to my hearts content. Such a cool unit for such a low price..perfect for me. Well built with good support should you need it. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly good
I've used a lot of Behringer gear over the years. Some of it excellent, some did the job and some was awful. Love or hate them though, since Behringer started acquiring some big-name brands, and thus their technology, their products have improved drastically and their reliability is as good as any other, while the prices have stayed reasonable. This interface has surprised me with excellent sound quality for both mic, instrument and line-level sources. The microphone preamps are extremely quiet and clean sounding, every input can be configured as a high-impedance instrument input for guitars and basses, and the headphone amps are plenty loud and will drive difficult loads with ease. It connected to a Mac first time and once configured was up and running in Logic within seconds.Interfaces at this price tend to be neutral in sound; I.E what goes in is what gets recorded. Some, though certainly not all higher end products have a 'house sound' meaning they are tuned to sound a certain way. Few have as many features as you'll find here however. The other big advantage of this is that it's class-compliant with its controls all done in hardware, so there's no software control panel or complicated driver to make impair usability or cause incompatibility down the line. Why only 4 stars? I couldn't get the mono switch to work in playback from a PC, though as it's connected to a PreSonus monitor station this isn't an issue. There is only 1 main output with a level control so only one set of minors can realistically be used simultaneously, again solved by use of a monitor controller. The midi jacks could have given way to a couple more inputs ore a set of additional XLR output jacks. But at this price, there's little than can touch the UMC1820. M-Audio's AIR192 is probably the closest competitor but it lacks some of the features and is slightly more expensive. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a fuss-free multi-channel recording interface with a neutral sound, excellent preamps and plenty of versatility.

Very well designed unit
Great units for the money. Preamps are great and you can sync two without dropouts. Also has ADAT for expansion.

Great value audio interface.
I have used a Motu 896 and 8pre for many years and have been very happy with the quality of recording. However, I have just started working on a new project which required me to put together a mobile set-up for some live recording. I would have used the Motu 8pre for this, but my new laptop doesn't have firewire, so I needed an audio interface with USB connection. After reading many reviews I decided to go for the Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820. For a relatively low price, it offered the same 8 input channels and phantom power supply as I was used to. I was very pleased with the result - easy to set up and nice clean recordings. It also seems to be well built, so I just hope it lasts as well as the Motus.

Terrible noise
Tried both balenced and unbalenced leads, and the noise when mixing in Hardware is not worth the bother, only used a few times in testing as i have been buioolding up other aspects of my setup and still using my basic soundcard, and it seems like everytime i test this Behringer, i get many noises and feedback and sscreching sounds like some ssort of drone or riser sounds, its useless and tempramental, i even removed all leeds, made sure their were no other hardware devices in the vecinity and still i got the same noises as if somthing was causing the power pack to feedback and much more, dont cut corners, i am probally stuck with this now.

Fantastic audio Interface
I did a great deal of research before deciding on this Audio Interface. It constantly gets good reviews compaired to many others available and it didnt disappoint.I had some small problems to begin with but I think this was due my inexperience at inputing 8 tracks simultaneously into my DAW. I only had previous knowledge of 2 tracks. Plus I dont think it likes USB3. Always use USB2The only strange thing about it is that even with the gain control turned to zero I can still hear something through that channel. I was inputting from a multitrack recorder so maybe the output is much higher than you would get from a microphone or guitar. But it was annoying. The only way I could hear individual channels was to shut them off with the DAW. As stated by others you can sometimes get problems finding the driver but this is just a question of restarting your PC. This might seem like a bit of a moan. But these are only small problems as the unit performs great in every way and is well worth the price

Consigliato
