Product Description A Century of Fine Pen Making Speedball's proud heritage for pen-making began in 1899, when the C. Howard Hunt Pen Company began manufacturing and distributing steel pens. Nearly two decades later, in 1913, Hunt sought to improve upon the functionality of the lettering tools of the day and joined forces with master letterers Ross F. George and William H. Its unique multi-purpose design allows artists to create a variety of strokes with just a flip of the pen. The A-Series is ideal for any Gothic or Monoline lettering style that has lines of uniform width with a squared finish. B-Series The B-Series nib made its debut in the 2nd edition of The Speedball Textbook in 1916 . Like the A-Series, the B-Series has a bent end to form a “shoe” that can easily produce a uniform width line. Unlike its counterpart, the Speedball B-Series nib has a rounded finish that makes it ideal for creating sans serif letters without thick and thin lines.The B-Series is perfect for creating a variety of monoline lettering, drawn letters (e.g. Versals) and “built-up” letters, such as the Double Stroke Poster Roman. C-Series The third addition to the Speedball series of pen nibs, the C-Series, was introduced in 1918 in the 4th This series features a traditional broad edge nib with a great degree of flexibility. Review: Great value and lovely nibs to write with - This is a lovely set at a very reasonable price. I am a total novice and I love the Hunt 101 nibs (only my technique occasionally lets them down). These nibs are very sharp and are supposed to be! They need a very light touch on the upstroke or they will snag and you will end up with ink splats on your work. But with practice you will get better. I would not recommend these nibs for an absolute beginner as most will be a little too heavy handed to get the best from them. Having said that if you treat with a very light touch, there is no reason why you can't use them as a beginner. I would recommend this set anyway for beginners as you get the oblique nib holder included, into which you can put more beginner friendly 'G' nibs in, and when you are more used to using nibs you will have the 101's to try out.

Really happy with this pen set! The nibs work great for different lettering styles, and the pen holder feels solid. Perfect for journaling and trying out calligraphy. Easy to use and good quality—definitely recommend!

This is a lovely set at a very reasonable price. I am a total novice and I love the Hunt 101 nibs (only my technique occasionally lets them down). These nibs are very sharp and are supposed to be! They need a very light touch on the upstroke or they will snag and you will end up with ink splats on your work. But with practice you will get better. I would not recommend these nibs for an absolute beginner as most will be a little too heavy handed to get the best from them. Having said that if you treat with a very light touch, there is no reason why you can't use them as a beginner. I would recommend this set anyway for beginners as you get the oblique nib holder included, into which you can put more beginner friendly 'G' nibs in, and when you are more used to using nibs you will have the 101's to try out.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, but flawed

Unsure if this item is mislabelled. Only one of the nibs fits the small holder and it's so tiny it doesn't actually hold any ink (I even tried it with a thinner ink that permanent Indian, but no amount of dipping made it work). Yet the label states that of the six nibs, three are for the smaller holder. The larger holder and nibs are good though, no complaints there, but it loses a star for the above.
