I have personally found that I need to use both to have any sort of effect so I use regaine and also I take saw palmetto or similar and try to use dht blocking hair treatments and shampoos as well. It's important to know that when you first start using regaine you will go through a shedding period where you will actually lose hair for a short while but this is ok as eventually it will grow new stronger hairs. Another important point is that once you start using this you can never stop! The study the manufacturer did was of guys 18 to 49, so they're basically covering their arses by saying they haven't tested it with guys our age. I do think Regaine and products containing the same thing are still the best for topical use on the scalp in addition to other products which increase blood flow to the scalp.
