Asmodee - Rory's Story Cubes - Dice Game - Dutch Version

Loving dice and discovering these - I just had to have some! I stumbled upon a video on YouTube where this game was being demonstrated by the inventors. (I'd never heard of it) At first, like most people I guess, I was a little sceptical as to whether it would be the success it appeared it could be when I actually came to have a go myself. We're all a little shy I guess, and so the thought of rolling random images on cubes, and then having to `link' those images up to tell some kind of story (which could easily be nonsense - depending on what was rolled!) sounded a bit embarrassing to say the least... However; I thought I'd give these a go; not least because I love games involving dice (and these are nothing but dice with images instead of numbers, and so were so appealing to me) and also the fact that the people I saw playing with them seemed to really to be enjoying themselves! Having ordered my set - I couldn't wait to received them I was so eager and ready to go - and I wasn't disappointed! The very first throw, gave me quite an amazing set of images that I was fortunate enough to be able to think of a `link' without too much thought, which was good, as I would think a bad set of images on the very first go might influence newbies into thinking this may not be a good idea - but as it was, because of my good experience, in the very first instant my confidence and imagination had both `fired'! I then was surprised yet again when introducing them to my partner, who doesn't really enjoy dice games as much as myself, and who I thought would be pretty hopeless at it - proved to be much better than myself! Okay; they are a little expensive (and dice always are) but they ARE excellent quality (and so they should be) they come in a very neat little box with a magnetic fastener, and there are `expansion' sets. All in all a VERY good product; a challenging and imaginative game that I think is good for both young and old alike, and particularly for elderly people, in that it would be a great way to be sure their minds remained active! Five stars for a wonderful, useful and enjoyable little idea!

I adore these story cubes! I had never heard of them until a friend told me all about them and brought her child's story cubes (this actual product) around to me to show me them. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the box as they come in a very strong, well designed box, closing with a magnetic strip. The interior of the box has not been ignored and looks very elegant and expensive, nothing has been spared in creating these. The cubes themselves have defined images that allow for multiple inferences. For example, a footprint could be used as "As we walked further, we came across an enormous footprint" or a child could simply use it as "We then went for a walk" because it is a foot. It is totally adaptable and dependent on the child or indeed adult using them...won't lie, I will be playing with these for my own muse and also to show my children what fun can be had. I am more interested in resources like these lately as I am now a Home Educator and have been for almost a year. One of my daughters(9 years old) is very resistant and had many issues at school resulting in extreme anxiety. When she is faced with a large task such as "Write a story about a man with a horse" she completely melts down and can not even start due to the anxiety and magnitude of the task. However once we received these story cubes, which I must say arrived so fast that I had not time to tell my friend I had purchased them and simply messaged her to tell them they were here as they arrived the next day, she was the first to want to try them. This set was purchased with two extension packs, the mythic and intergalactic ( I think they are named). I printed off some pretty bordered paper and off she went writing two full pages of story which plainly showed how much the cubes had helped. She had a smile on her face and thoroughly enjoyed using them. Anyone with an anxious child will understand the value of this. I look forward to using these cubes consistently with my children for many years to come and I feel so lucky to have them. They have unlocked my children's imaginations in a way they can express.

9 cubes, each with an individual picture of all sides, creating a unique story on each throw. We bought this as "not sure what to buy" for a niece and nephew (age 6 and 3) for xmas, not thinkng for one minute how much fun it would be! Our daughter of 10 was so envious of it we then ordered her one too. We took ours on holiday over the xmas period. Out of all the electronic gizmo's our daughter took with her this game kept her amused the most, which was very refreshing when we live in a world of technology! It really made her use her imagination. We all took it in turns to create the next adventure of the story. She would write out the next chapter to the stories too. We had so much fun listening to the adventures! It is absolutley brilliant, really gets you thinking and rather addictive. And completely broadened our 10 years vocabulary and imagintion. Its small enough to pop into handbag too which meant we could use it the plane, car journey, restaurants etc etc. I totally recommend this product for all ages. Really good fun. Bought these for my daughter's 7th birthday as she has a very busy imagination and loves reading stories, making up her own and having them made up for her. She liked them a lot and played with them perhaps a little too much initially which meant that, for her, as one other reviewer has stated, they did get a wee bit limited as she couldn't come up with too many different permutations from the same pictures so the novelty wore off quite soon. We had a wee break from them for a while and now get them out a little less regularly just to keep it fresh. It's even more fun now as our 3 year old son can also join in with us and that puts another little brain/perspective on the case which turns it into quite a hilarious game for us all. I just love that we can sit round the table with these, get the creative juices going and have some quality play time. Would definitely recommend.

I bought these as a little treat for my three kids aged, 11 yrs, 9 yrs and 6 yrs. They all love it! There are no real rules so nothing to learn before getting stuck in and having fun. Kids have such amazing imaginations and these cubes really bring them to life. They love telling stories. The little box contains nine cubes and is easily transported so you can take it anywhere. Each side of each cube has a little picture, for instance a book, a bee or even a wigwam. You roll out the cubes, so some sort of surface is needed, then by looking at the pictures you make up the story using your imagination. You can also create characters for your story by rolling just 3 cubes. The kids have already made up other games and found other ways to use them. They just reach for them all the time, even play with them rather than the pc or computer games. We were first introduced to these cubes by one of my kids home tutors when she was too ill to go to school. They were used as story prompts for her English lessons.

Great little product for making up stories for young children. This is brilliant it doesn't matter if you have a vivid imagination or a good story telling ability, these dice give you the prompts to make fresh and original ideas come to life. They're not cheap but are of excellent quality and thier use is so simple. I see a number of applications for more than just telling bedtime stories, educational, ice breakers, calm time, creative writing and more. The best part is the additional expansion products that are themed, they just can expand what is on offer. Despite the price this is neat, portable and actually is loads of fun, even adults could make a competition of story telling out of these dice!

I wish I had known about these earlier! They are one of the best toys/creativity aids that I have ever seen, and I also wish I'd had them as a child. I have always found it difficult to invent stories, and now I have a child, I think they will help me to have fun in this regard. We played with a few friends as soon as we opened them, and we had so much fun, we kind of got stared at in the restaurant where we were playing. They are unique, useful, fun, portable (the size of a thick wallet perhaps), and well worth every penny. We loved the idea so much, that we also bought the 'Voyages' and 'Actions' sets to go with the originals.

As is usually the case with games, the most simple ideas are often the best. How much easier to play could a game be than picking up a handful of 'story cube' dice throwing them on the table and then, letting your imagination be guided by the combination of random images your throw has provided, either writing or telling a story beginning with 'Once Upon A Time'? Rory's Story Cubes are not only educational, fun, and challenging they are perfect for parties when late in the hour the dancing has ceased and people are chatting around a table with a glass of wine. Writing clubs will also find them an invaluable tool for inspiring great works from members at workshops and the best thing about them is that there are millions of possible combinations so no two workshops will ever be the same! The cubes come in a really tough little box with a magnetic fastener (nice touch!). They are of good quality manufacture and even repeated use is unlikely to cause any of the print to come off unlike many other cheap dice games. Add to the fun the fact that other 'themed' sets ('Voyages' & 'Actions') of 'Story Cubes' are also available and can be 'mixed & matched' together in any combination you choose and you have a simple game with endless twists and turns that will keep you and your friends amused until the end of time! I really cannot recommend this product more strongly. An essential purchase.

Kids love it so much, I'm considering purchasing other variations.

Pas terrible , je trouve que c’est plutôt limitant que stimulant pour l’imagination . Je ne les ai pas utilisés finalement mais le groupe était adulte . Avec des enfants ça doit être beaucoup mieux .
