Probably a little better than Duke
A fun take on the Duke game. There are some minor differences that make it a little more than a simple reskin. The tiles are way cooler too.

Better than Duke, not as good as Centurion
It's alright, more sophisticated than The Duke, but not as sharp tactically as Centurion. It's a nice addition though and my son and I enjoy all three. Sometimes mixing genres up.

Perfect Tile piece strategy game
One of my favorite strategy piece type games after 6 years of playing. The rules definitely need an update to enhance understanding, but once you get it, it's simple and flows really well. I have never had a stale mate in this game as of yet.

Play THE DUKE instead
Play "The Duke" instead. The Duke is by the same designer and has similar mechancis, but it works much better. Jarl is stalemate-prone and it has a lot of poorly written rules that are relevant to units in the base game. The Duke's poorly written rules only affected expansions, and The Duke has much faster units (and a slower unit you are trying to capture) so it actually terminates. Jarl is boring and frustrating.

Don't bother
Game is very fun up to the end. The game ends in a stalemate 75% of the time. The jarl piece has too much movement power so he dances around the board and can't be caught.
