I just needed a small dvd player with a remote control to keep my daughter entertained while she's in her room as she likes to fall asleep to a movie etc. I wanted something with a small footprint that could do a very simple job - e.g. play region 2 dvd's. I wasn't expecting to buy a Sony machine for the money and I'm ultimately very impressed. The only thing that I would say is that it's quite noisy - especially when the loading tray is moving, e.g dvd loads/ejects. However, my daughter has quite a large room so individuals watching are not close enough to be disturbed by it. This is the main reason for 4 stars rather than 5 - but for others, this might be quite a big problem.
