Boulder Developments Cork Tiles are 300x300mm, 4mm thick, natural cork tiles that cover 1.8 sqm. Ideal for various applications, they provide soundproofing and insulation while being easy to install and eco-friendly.

## Description

Cork floor tiles brand new Natural cork 300mm x 300mm and 4 mm thick! Can be used as: flooring Underlay wall covering noticeboards insulation (0.040 W/Mk) protection totally Natural, renewable and sustainable. Natural cork is a great insulator, and when used as flooring feels soft and warm underfoot. It is also great for DIY enthusiasts and can be used for a wide variety of projects. Our cork can be used anywhere indoors and is easily cut with a STANLEY knife. It is important to note that the better You prepare the desired surface to which you are attaching the tiles, The better the outcome will be. The sub-surface must be clean, dry, grease free and primed using an appropriate primer (which you can find in our products). its Important to use a primer, not a sealer to prepare for the tiles. You can ensure full adhesion by using a heavy roller several times. A final top coat of seal such as acrylic or polyurethane can be applied if required, ensure you follow our sealing instructions carefully. Testing: these tiles have been certified by TUV Nord

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can they be painted**
A: Hi cork is a wood product its made from the bark of the cork tree and like any wood it can be painted or stained or varnished,  care should be taken in the selection and application, we recommend testing a small piece,  Cork is light, soft, low density and porus, this is what makes it so warm and comfortable, but you must be carefull not to flood it with liquid like paint , esp water based paints and varnishes. Apply a very light almost dry coat with a short hair roller, and repeat several times, it goes on quick and dries quick,  so its easy to do lots of coats in a day. Once you are sure you have built up a surface coat you cam apply a slightly heavier coat.. I have laid and sealed cork floors this way and its easy and quick giving them 6 to 10 coats. With this method the amount of seal is also kept to a miniumn. If you apply a lot of liquid to cork it will soak it up like a sponge, and as it dries it will contract a lot , curling up the tiles. I like water based polyurethane its the most common seal, and comes in a big range of colours, there is next to no smell, it dries quickly, and it does not yellow with age like solvent based seals, clean up is easy too. Just remember to apply light coats and seal the surface fisrt and build up a layer at a time

**Q: Is this good to keep the room warmer --applying on the walls ? tks**
A: Not sure. We used them to make a cork notice board. They are quite thin and it was also quite hard to stick them to a wooden surface. That might also be hard on a wall. If you're covering a larger area I'd recommend a larger size as well.

**Q: How many do I need for floor size 12feet by 13feet?**
A: Each tile is 1 foot square ( 1 inch is 25mm; so 300mm is 12 inches or 1 ft). You need 12 x 13 tiles; that is 156 tiles. It is unlikely that your floor is exactly square or exactly that size so measure carefully and allow few more/less after careful measurement. It may be worth checking the Web for advice on laying them.

**Q: Could these be used in a kitchen area if sealed?**
A: Yes. I have used my to floor a bathroom and sealed then with watered down upva glue.
