Has anyone used then for warhammer and how do they compare to the official ones?

Just as good if not better than the Citadel ones. Some colours from the Citadel range you won't find in the Vallejo range and visa versa, so I tend to use a combination of both when painting.

Is this really the 16 paint introduction set? The pictures and price would suggest so but the description is incorrect. Thanks.

Yes!! If you are planning on painting fantasy (Warhammer, Mordheim 40K etc) then you will want these paints. If your painting military (Bolt Action) then go with him vallejo model colour set.
