This has to be one the best kitchen gadgets I own
This has to be one the best kitchen gadgets I own! I have made lots of delicious soups in this maker, its very easy to use. I had a problem getting it to work first time and you have to make sure you don't overfill it with liquid as theres a sensor on the inside of the lid which detects if its too full and it wont work! I thought mine was faulty so I googled it and the best way to use it is: Put your veg in first making sure its chopped to a decent size and doesn't go above the max line then add your liquid ensuring the soup doesn't rise above the max line, if it does it wont work, as a general rule I use around 800ml of liquid and iv never had a problem with it working since the first attempt. You can select smooth or chunky, if you select chunky it cooks for 28mins and you then have the option to blend it if its too chunky, you can make smoothies in it too which iv never tried. I put the ingredients into the maker and leave it to do all the work, smooth setting takes 21 mins. It serves 4 people depending on how much you eat. Its very easy to clean, just warm soapy water making sure you don't submerge the electrical parts of the maker, it saves on washing up a large pan/food blender etc. It makes a noise when its blending but that's normal. My friends have bought this item since I bought mine it is really good. I would recommend this maker but make sure you follow my steps when you first use it.

Easy to use
I got this as it was recommended by a friend. I was surprised at how big it was at first. I made my first ever homemade soup, butternut squash, sweet potato and carrot and set it for purรฉed soup. After adding all the ingredients I turned it on and it started heating up like a kettle and it kept going, steam coming out from the lid like a boiling kettle, this is just normal so you need to make sure the area is ventilated and away from sockets or anything not heat resistant, then the blender part kicked in for a couple of seconds, it boiled some more then blended again for a minute or two and voilร soup was ready. It is so easy to use, just dice up your veg before adding with stock and switch it on, twenty minutes later you have a lovely streaming hot batch of soup. The cleaning part was just as easy as the cooking part, a quick wash out, not suitable for the dishwasher and it's done. The instruction book has ten recipes at the back to help get you started if you need some inspiration. I would definitely recommend this item but remember it sounds like a boiling kettle, with steam coming out, until the blender part kicks in, then it gets a bit noisy but not overly loud. Definitely recommend

Perfect addition to the kitchen - an all year rounder
Wow. I didnโt believe this would be as good as it is. Made perfect potato and leek soup in 21 minutes. Loved by the whole family and took me no time/effort. It Can be noisy when it blends and it makes you jump but it doesnโt last long otherwise the noise is fine. Bought when on deal so great value! Functionality - Itโs very straightforward, add ingredients, press one button and itโs ready in about 20 minutes.

it would appear electricity doesn't like moisture / steam / dampness
Had to return the first one after a few months. Whilst this is an amazingly simple to use and lovely soup maker it decided to blow the electrics in the whole house one day during usage! It stopped working and did everything in the house ... it would appear electricity doesn't like moisture / steam / dampness! Reason it blew was... steam had entered the electrical joint between lid and main unit. I phoned the number provided in the user manual leaflet. A Morphy Richards number. They were very helpful. Discussed problem. They were insisting it was faulty and mustn't be used again. This obviously because they were nervous of serious electrical injury. With no quibbles gave me the Amazon direct dial number with an Amazon contact name also. This route gave the option of a refund or replacement through to Amazon. Morphy Richards did say that if in future the purchase was made direct with Morphy Richards they would give a better price and a full refund or replacement if a problem, without the cost of returning the goods if a refund was requested. As it was Amazon were happy to replace the goods, but if I wanted a refund and no replacement I would have to pay the return postage. So arranged replacement with the cost of return of the old one being met by them. So... on our second one now... which is making wonderful soup. Though the costly part of the experience was that the blowing of fuses in the house, destroyed the 'sure signal' phone device, which cost us to replace and weeks of aggro with the phone provider for this device! A good appliance, wonderful soups, but comes with potential problems!

Excellent quality and has made my life easier
I was recommended this soup maker by several people who said it would be a good option for my kitchen. I wasn't convinced, as surely I could make soup without the help of another gadget. However they were absolutely right and this has been one of the best purchases I've made. Setup really requires no thought at all. It comes with a large jug, a lid with the blade attached, and a power cable. There are two buttons on the lid, one to change the mode, and the other to start. I've made all kinds of soups in it using both the smooth and chunky settings. I also really like that there's a blend option so if I change my mind about a chunky soup, I can blend it without having to heat it again. This has also enabled me to get rid of my existing blender as I can use the soup maker in place of it. The jug has a large capacity and I get multiple very generous portions out of it with minimal effort at all. I think it's encouraged me to be more creative with the soups I make as I am having to think less about cooking and so the small investment of time feels worth it when trying something new. It is also easy to clean, though do be aware of the port for the cable on the bottom edge of the jug. I've had this soup maker for around a year and a half now and it works as well as it did when I bought it. It's especially good quality given the price, and I get excellent use out of it in winter.

Wish had got one sooner
We've tried making soup a few times over the years, and it never seems to turn out quite as well as we'd hoped. Maybe I'm behind the times but I'd never previously realised that one could buy a soup-maker, so I was intrigued to find out what one was like. We chose the Morphy Richards one based on the reviews already posted for it, and first impressions were good. The soupmaker is perhaps a foot high, and consists of a sturdy metal jug with a thick plastic handle (also very sturdy). The ingredients are placed inside the soupmaker, and then the (heavy) top is fitted. This top contains the blender, which sticks down on a stalk from the underside of the top; it also has a sticky-down sensor on a stick that tells you if the soupmaker is overfilled, and a control panel on top. On the control panel are settings for smooth, chunky, smoothie and just blend. There's also an electronic counter that tells you how long a programme has to go. There are ten or twelve simple soup and smoothie recipes included in the booklet that comes with the soupmaker; our first effort was something else, though, which was for mushroom soup. For vegetable soups, it's a case of chopping up the ingredients, putting them into the soupmaker, and then adding water or stock, depending on the recipe. There are two level markers on the side - marked as the minimum level to which the soupmaker can be filled (1.3 litres) and the maximum (1.6 litres). Obviously this isn't a big range, so if you're making soup for one, you're going to end up with enough for several bowlfuls. Once all the ingredients in, it's a case of either pressing the 'smooth' or the 'chunky' option, and the soupmaker sets off. The smooth setting takes 21 minutes, and the chunky 28 minutes. The programmes both blend the ingredients (the smooth one more so than the chunky one, obviously) and also heat them so that on completion of the programme, the soup is literally ready to serve. And that's all there is to it - you then sit and wait for the soup to be ready. There is quite a lot of noise, and you see steam coming out of the jug; the noise is a bit alarming at first, but you soon get used to it. The display counts down the number of minutes left, and there's some barred lights that effectively tell you what stage of the programme the soupmaker is currently on. We've now made soup five or six times - mushroom, potato and leek, tomato, and a nice lamb and mint soup - and we've been incredibly impressed with the quality of the soup, and the taste and consistency (once we'd learned to put in slightly less water than specified, otherwise the soup is a bit thin). It's worth noting that if you are including meat in a soup, this needs to be pre-cooked. Also, you shouldn't take the lid off during a cycle; this resets it, so you then have to start again - which could result in very well-cooked soup! Cleaning the soupmaker is also easy. When I told a friend that we were getting one, she said that they were quite hard to clean because solid food burns to the bottom, and you can't immerse the soupmaker in water to wash it up, because of the electrics in the handle and the lid. We've had no problem with burning at all; after use, all we've had to do is give a quick rinse and rub round with soapy water, and all has been absolutely fine. All in all, we're incredibly impressed with this. It's well-made, feels very sturdy and as if it will last for years, and produces excellent soup which must surely be healthier than that you buy in a shop. If you get one, you won't regret it. Recommended.

Kettle soupmakers can be hit and miss.
I bought this after a relative recommended it without checking any reviews. It arrived and I read the instructions, all common sense and easy. Made my first soup no problem, next day made another soup, I thought the product was going to take off, it went into overdrive with the boiling, eventually did a brief blend then took off again with another boiling session, then silence and it showed resting mode on the screen and 8 minutes from completion the screen went blank. I turned it off uncoupled etc and tried again, nothing totally dead, it did briefly light up but then died a death. I contacted Amazon and they were really helpful, gave me number for Morphy Richards Customer Service who listened, then sent me an email, and I had to go through exactly what the low star reviewers (I checked after the fact) had happen. I didn't want a replacement of this and any other kettle type soupmaker, totally lost confidence with this style, so asked Amazon for a refund which they did and I purchased a more expensive, completely different style, but a more fit for the job, soupmaker. I did, after I had returned the product, get another email from Morphy Richards asking for a video of the machine of what the issue is so they can help me. I am struggling to understand how a video of a dead machine would help them or me.

Great product, wrong power cord!
Unfortunately it arrived complete with an English power cord even though I ordered it on Amazon AUSTRALIA. Luckily my slow cooker power cord fitted it. It makes great soup so Iโm happy with that.
