I hold my hands up and admit I was doing it all wrong. You have to press the marinate button on the side of the machine. Hold the hand help adaptor down on the green oval button in the centre of the container, press the marinate button, and you will find they work perfectly. So pleased. Amazing what you can achieve if you do it right. To be fair of other reviews on here, the instructions are not good. So perhaps FoodSaver should improve on them. As a whole they're easy enough to use, with one ??, the food I prepare generally requires refrigeration, when I go to open the container, I often struggle. There is a button on the lid to release the air, but it doesn't always open easily. I've noticed a slight area on one corner by the seal, with less plastic, still doesn't overly help.
