Including the bristles, the diameter is 1.25" (one and a quarter inches). I wanted a really small barrel and this works for me. I have a pixie cut and I use the brush with damp hair to style back my short "forelock" when I want it back. **Q: What makes this brush static free?** A: I have no idea how it is static free but I won't use another brush.
