Yes, it really is exceptionally heavy - that will be the fireproof lining then 😎. We are using it for backup external drives and as other reviewers have suggested, it lives near the main exit door of the house so that it could be grabbed in an emergency. With so much of our lives now stored digitally, this feels like a good investment to protect the backup discs.
