Does the wheel rotate in steps, or is it "smooth" (and super sensitive)? I tried the M525 and find the wheel erratic and too sensitive.

I've found that the M235 works very well. The wheel actually goes in one place stops, and that suits me admirably. The only grumble that I have with it, is that it uses batteries up fairly frequently-(about three weeks), but then I use it a lot so I probably shouldn't grumble. How long does mouse take to sleep, i.e. can I just leave it switched on without much battery use?

Hi, I've been using this mouse for about 2 or 3 years. In that time I have never manually turned it off, but have always relied on the automatic cut off. I have not replaced the batteries during this time and it's still operating faultlessly. I think it's an excellent product.

can I replace my wireless Mouse M505 that came with my Logitech Mk605 Notebook Kit with the M235?

There's no obvious reason why not - all mice work in much the same way. One point, however. The battery is not held very firmly, and you really need to add some sort of packing to the cover to hold the battery in place.

What is the battery life like?

I never switch off, and battery life is good. If you can be bothered to switch off when not using it the battery will obviously last longer, but I don't think it's worth the trouble. The single AA battery is not expensive.
