I think even the camera body would corrode very quickly. **Q: I have this system from yourself and I can only get 2 cams to playback in playback mode the other 6 cams are shaded but all 4 show as recording ? .** A: Only 2 cameras can be selected for playback at any one time. Go to the playback screen, there you will see on the lower right hand numbered squares 1 - 8. Deselect any highlighted numbers, then select only 2 numbers of cameras you wish to view. In the date/ day box click on the date you wish to view. Along the bottom of the screen you will see 2 yellow time lines, click on one of these and the 2 camera images in playback mode appear. You can then click on any time period you wish to view using the time lines. To view other Cameras you must click the square stop button, then deselect rhe cameras you have viewed, on rhe bottom right of the screen. You can now select 2 more to view. **Q: can i use it without an internet connection** A: you can use without internet. It will still rcord to hard drive. If connected to the internet you can use apps on mobile and check on cameras anywhere. Also can use email alerts if connected to internet. Hope this helps. Chose wired over wireless because I do believe it was much easier to install than wireless for where I have put it, which is in the loft. The wires simply run around the loft, out the eaves to the camers on the walls. The first camera was a bit of a faff to install, the rest became easier with the last taking less than an hourfrom start to finish. Pro - for the price you get HD cameras and a HD recorder and everything you need to get going Pro - it comes with software to install on PC and mobile which work - some have said that it didnt work, but it did for us after a little thought. It didnt work automatically and a manual would have helped. This from a guy who generally passes the manual to the wife and says "thats for you" Cons - the instruction manual is not great but its pretty common sense to set up - that is except the software where a good manual would do wonders to improve the system. The system has been designed so that you can just click through the default menu options and it works, all very easy. However stopping the system from triggering when it shouldnt is not so easy.
