You'll wonder how you managed without one.
A very handy tool to have When you cannot set-up a full size sliding cross cut saw. It is compact in size but has no problem cutting through any wood or light metal framework etc. It has replaced my handsaw for cutting 4"x2" timber and similar sized wood. It cuts wood with nails in it thanks to the blade Evolution puts in all their saws, though I would use a purpose made metal cutting saw for doing this on a regular basis. It is easy to carry in the car, due to it's small size and light enough to move with one hand. I have basically given up using a hand saw, jigsaw or circular saw for cutting timber to the correct length since getting this saw, plus the cuts are accurate for 90 degrees every time, Something that is almost impossible with a hand saw. It also fits on a mobile workbench easily enough, so no dedicated stand is needed, unlike my full size sliding mitre saw. It's the sort of tool that once you use it for a few jobs, you cannot imagine going without it. The only thing I would have liked is if it was fitted with a laser for lining up cuts too a pencil mark, but measuring with a tape or putting the blade down onto the marked wood before cutting is easy enough. I've been 'spoilt' by the laser on my full size sliding saw so lining up the cuts with this saw needs a bit of 'old school' measuring. Other than the lack of a laser line, I cannot find anything bad about this saw in use, but it does cost a lot less than a full size machine so fair enough. One other thing though, you do need to check for how square the blade is cutting and adjust it accordingly if needed, using the small screws provided on the machine. An incredibly handy tool to have and I highly recommend it. If you need to cut T&G flooring boards, you will need to buy the sliding mitre version of this saw, as the width of the cut isn't big enough for this width of material without the sliding feature. So plan what jobs you may do in the future and maybe go for that version instead. Update: Still a very good tool after 3 years, but recently had to set up a friends recently bought version aswell, as the blade was not square too the wood. Only took a few minutes to do, but surely it wouldn't take much to make a jig at the factory to set things up before shipping? It isn't rocket science is it.

Excellent Chop Saw at a reasonable price
I bought this chop saw to assist the construction of a composite deck product that I purchased recently. The composite decking was heavy ,coming in 3.6m lengths but the chop saw was able to make light work of the 17 lengths of deck that needed to be cut . The safety features are good and should mean you are not exposed to an risk if you follow the instructions. The dust extraction is not perfect for composite but was fine for the wooden components that I also had to cut to size with the saw. It was easy to attach the saw to my Black and Decker workmate and this provided and safe and secure working platform. For long items you may have to consider the use of an additional trestle. The power lead is long enough and can be stowed so that is does not represent a safety issue. The blade is fine enough for my intended application and any cuts were fine and of course perfectly straight. Having used circular saws in the past I am surprised at how easy it made this particular job and saved loads of time and effort. Although I did not use the function it is able to cut mitres, bevel and compound cut on both a vertical and horizontal axis. The blade can be angled to cut at 45 degree angles. The blade is 210mm and provides a cutting depth of 50mm, this was fine for the task I intended it for as the composite I was cutting was 25mm and did not have any issue despite the fact that the composite was very dense. It does not come with a storage box but is able to be stored safely as the blade is not exposed in its storage state. It is not particularly heavy making it easy to transport. All in all this is an excellent product at a reasonable price.

Great simple saw for home use
Very pleased with this for the money. It is quite small and compact, has mount points to secure it to a work bench if needed. Comes with a very good multi-purpose blade that does surprisingly clean cuts on wood but will also go through light metal (handy if your wood contains nails or screws). Can be tilted up to 45 degrees each way on the horizontal and vertical axes. The blade guard is very good and slides out the way when it contacts your work piece. You can actually cut bigger pieces than advertised if you manually hold the blade guard out of the way (but be very careful, not advisable). Build quality is absolutely fine for something of this price, but do not try and compare it with a £500 Dewalt model becasue obviously you get what you pay for. Saying that, I've probably made over 100 cuts so far and it all feels solid, nothing has broken. A few negative things to note (which is why it got 4 stars and not 5): 1. There is a sliding upright at the back of the bed, but it doesn't have a stop on it i.e. if you don't ensure it's tightened up (with the little tightenting wheel), it can vibrate it's way towards the blade and actually hits the blade. 2. The adjustment on both axes (0-45 degrees) has slotted stages that it clicks into. However, once you adjust the angle you want, there is a bit of play between each slot. I found I had to use a speed square to measure it exactly before tightening it up and setting. Not a huge issue but it's annoying especially on small and precise work if you cut 43/44 degrees instead of 45. 3. The dust bag collector snags on the arm of the saw if you move it to 45 degrees. Would have been better with a small hose so you could locate the bag out of the way. Also the opening to the dust bag doesn't close all the way up, so it only collects the worst of the dust but lets quite a bit out. Overall, very pleased and it certainly does the job. I would perhaps go for a more expensive model next time that has a laser pointer (which isn't necessary but is very handy).

Brilliant value
I've had this saw nearly 6 years and never even changed the blade although it's high time i did. I can't speak highly enough of it. As a jobbing handyman and home DIYer It's been a godsend and has enabled me to complete some difficult jobs with ease, especially where there were complicated angled mitre cuts, including building decking, a raised wooden pond surround, stands for my daughter's craft stall, cutting down metal curtain poles, garden bird boxes, shed renovation... The list goes on! It's paid for itself over and again!

Great for beginners – makes DIY feel much more achievable
I bought this mitre saw with the Evolution stand for some home renovation projects. I’ve never used power tools before and, being newly single, I’ve had to learn quickly – but this made it far less intimidating than I expected. It feels solid, was easy to set up and has been really straightforward to use. I’ve mainly used it for cutting timber and it’s been accurate and easy to control. The design is simple and practical, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming as a beginner, and everything is easy to adjust when you need to change angles. The mitre and bevel functions are straightforward to use and give you flexibility for different types of cuts. In terms of noise, it’s about what you’d expect from a saw like this – not overly loud but definitely something you’d use with ear protection if you’re working for a while. Paired with the stand it feels very stable and comfortable to work with, which makes a big difference as a beginner. One of the main reasons I chose this was the price – compared to similar options I looked at in places like Screwfix and B&Q, this felt much more affordable and made it possible for me to actually give it a go without a huge investment. What surprised me most is that I actually really enjoy using it – it’s made DIY feel much more achievable. I’ve attached a short video of me using it along with a couple of projects I’ve done so far – I can’t wait to get stuck into the next one… I feel unstoppable now! Overall, I’d definitely recommend it – especially if you’re new to power tools. It makes light work of jobs and gives you the confidence to get stuck into projects.

Super compact and really accurate
A while ago I bought myself a mitre saw. It did everything, tilted both ways and had a long slide so you could accommodate really wide boards. The issue was that it was a gigantic tool requiring a great deal of garage room that I didn’t really have and, as time went by, it became apparent that I didn’t need all the features of that saw. I only ever really cut 90 or 45 degree angles into 4x2s or 3x2 (89x38 and 63x38) timber (or things of a similar magnitude). I got rid of that monster and have bought this. It’s brilliant. I’d watched all the Youtube videos about how to adjust it before first use but I was lucky and mine was perfectly set up (blade 90 degrees to the fence and the base) out of the box. The footprint of the machine is tiny and the cuts are perfect. Obviously of you do want to cut wider things you’d need something bigger but for my usage this is perfect. Wish I’d bought this first.

For the price an excellent investment.
For the price this product is great. It does what it should do and seems very well made with accurate cuts. Perhaps a little on the noisy side but nothing to be concerned about.
