I can detach the screen and charge the screen but not the base. My original Microsoft charger can still charge through the base port and I also verified this by testing it with other co-workers that have Surface Books. Rather strange failure but annoying so I will have to purchase another one hopefully one that lasts more than a year. (the USB charge port still works)------------The charger works, the magnetic connector is just as strong if not stronger than the original. Everything looks to be of the same quality as the original.
