Battery occasionally falls out of the digital, but this requires no battery and is easier to see the measurement.I still liked my digital for mm or actual fractional measurements when needed, but I've gotten used to reading this. Example- if you're between 1 and 2 inches, and between 7 and 8 10ths on the rod, with the dial pointing exactly to the 50, you'll find you're exactly 1 3/4 inches (1.75). There are, of course, delineations for 51,52, etc. (e.g. 1.751,1.752) which is where the .001" accuracy comes from.I must say, I only bought this because it appears to be the same caliper used by William Ng, one of the best no-nonsense (yet with some great dry humor) woodworkers/instructors on YouTube. Or as he would probably say, "it may not be as expensive as mine but it works just as well all the same." ### ⭐⭐⭐ Acceptable. Barely. *by M***I on Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2018* I bought these as a "Q&D" pair and they are acceptable, but hardly of repeatable quality. There are tiny metal(?) flakes on the inside of the dial face (like something had been rubbed/shaved off), the end back stop bar isn't perpendicular to the slide, by several degrees, the movement is stiff and the "hold" knob has crushed knurls like a pair of pliers had been used on it. It's entirely possible I got a used/RMA'd pair - or a new one that was simply very cheaply manufactured. Sure, price wise you might expect no surprise from the review of quality, but sometimes you CAN get a good deal for a low price. The calibers are within 0.001" of my more expensive pair and for what I'm going to use it for, that's enough - if it gets no worse. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not same as pictures. *by B***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019* Never buy a caliper with a plastic thumbwheel mount. The plastic breaks immediately. I thought the picture showed a metal mount, but I bought two calipers and both are plastic.
