## Description

Following the lead of musical-polymaths-with-LA-ties before him like Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, and Harry Nilsson, Dent May's style on Across the Multiverse will be familiar to fans of his previous work. Yet there's something more refined about this collection... Stately strings mingle with boogie piano like old friends. Synths weave a celestial backdrop throughout. Every verse, bridge and chorus in its right place, giving it the unmistakable feel of a true songwriting craftsman at work. Lyrically Dent has never been sharper, musing on themes like modern romance, existential dread, and the distance to the moon, as he searches for meaning among the infinite scrolling feeds of our 21st century augmented reality. Written and recorded in a sunny bedroom in LA's Highland Park neighborhood, with Dent producing and playing nearly every instrument himself. Vinyl comes with a download card housed in a single sleeve - pressed on butter yellow vinyl.

Review: Wow. - This is some album. It's like Brian Wilson's pomp mixed with Jens Lekman's humor. Pretty much every song is pure pop bliss. I could picture a stadium with 60,000 fans singing along to "I'm Gonna Live Forever Until I'm Dead." In fact, a song like that demands it. I really hope this album catches on, at least in the indie-rock community. Might just be my album of the year.
Review: Indie Pop Bliss! - Instantly hummable, this is Dent May at his best. Recalling those catchy and breezy 70's melodies that are present in all his songs, Across The Multiverse is one great album. The arrangements are thoroughly modern too. Hope this album sells and sells!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ early 60s pop radio in California sound
*by C***R on December 19, 2017*

The 4th album from this Los Angeles via Mississippi artist sounds like a long-lost, found and updated Beach Boys/Brian Wilson LP. The vocal harmonies will transport you back to the surf & hot rod pop days of a California summer. The dominant, cheerful piano leads recall early 60s radio, as interpreted by Elton John, Billy Joel and maybe Ben Folds. The blatantly nostalgic, easygoing AM radio feel of “Across the Multiverse” doesn’t always work, but when does, you can close your eyes and smell the airy sea froth.
