If my son wear a 5t what size should I get?

The XS is listed as a 4-5, but I don't think it is accurate because a few people said the sizing is small and I agree. If I went by the chart, I would have ordered the M (10-12) because that is the size my kid normally wears. We ended up with an XL and the bag says 18-20. My kid definitely wears 10-12, so you might want to order up one or even two sizes, especially if they shrink.

Is this thin stretchy material or the thicker cotton ?

Thicker cotton but still stretchy. I was pleasantly surprised
