There are 3 main pieces: the frame with wheels, the handlebar assembly and knee rest. The frame has a spring clamp like is found on bicycle wheels. Align the 2 portions of the frame, slide the spring clamp into the groove, adjust the tightness of the clamp lever, and clamp it down. Same thing with the handle bars. Align the handle bar uppost upper section with the lower section, repeat the clamp process. Slide the upper handle bar T section into the uppost and start the star bolt into the handlebar frame. Do not screw it down completely. Slip the knee rest post into the guide, and start the star bolt into the knee rest frame. Stand next to the knee wheeler, bend knee at 90 degrees, have someone pull the knee rest up to meet your knee/lower leg, find the nearest hole on the opposite side of the star bolt and finish screwing in the bolt. Stand next to the knee wheeler, and adjust the upper handlebar T section to the level of your wrists. Look on the opposite side of the star bolt, find the nearest hole, and finish screwing the bolt down. My brakes did not need adjusting; so far, in my apartment I have not had to use them. Practice on this walker before you need to use it. Take turns slowly and do not put weight on the front wheels in a turn! This model has indentations in the knee pad in a 90 degree cross formation. This allows for various resting positions. When sitting, the foot can be propped at a 90 degree angle to the length of the knee rest when seated. This same groove can be used for your knee, when parked against a counter. Leaning over the basket can be tiring on your back, so bring the Walker parallel to the counter, pivot your body to face the counter and rest your knee on the center crossways groove. You are standing alongside the walker, at a 90 degree angle, much closer to the counter and not leaning over the basket and handlebars.The only downside to this walker for me is the lowest position of the knee rest is still about 2 inches too high for a perfect fit. I'm about 5'2", and adjusted as low as it will go, it is still too high. I suspect most standard walkers would have the same issue on my short body. For the time frame I need to use it, it should not be a great issue. With use, the knee rest needs padding. Get something thin enough to be able to make out the grooves in the knee rest. I also made a cardboard basket insert, to section off spots for my favorite beverage containers so they don't wobble around in transit. The basket is so handy for carrying things, try doing that with crutches! Next to the knee rest post, under the knee rest is a curved handle, for carrying the knee walker. This makes carrying this cart fairly easy, as it is fairly balanced when lifted this way. This cart also fit in the back of my compact hatchback without having to release any clamps. For use in a trunk, release the clamp on the handlebar upright, and it should fit just fine. Buying the knee wheeler was also more cost-effective than renting it locally. With my prescription and receipt, I've sent it to insurance for reimbursement. It has given me more mobility than I expected. *by S***. on Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018* The healthport Knee Walker is what I bought after researching many walkers- I did hope to get the knee pad included (but it was not included) and did include the basket. Both these items are a must if you are a new user. I found this knee walker to be designed very well and at 23 lbs it is light enough that I can load it in my trunk. It has two folding points- one at the base of the handle and second along the main shaft. Unfortunately when you fold it at the base of the handle the basket wont fit under the knee seat so it is not as compact as it would be without the basket. The basket is screwed in so its not detachable. It is essential however, cant do without it. Overall it is very maneuverable and easy to pickup and get going.I am now comfortable to zip around the house and maneuver turns and it has given me more freedom to work and move around.Now when you use this outside- be very careful as paving bumps, edges can cause the handle to turn. You have to go slow outside and watch the road for safety. It does do well on smooth concrete pavements. Its very easy to fall into a trap of comfort when on a knee walker so I caution those folks with ankle/knee injuries to go slow when outside as it only takes one more fall to ruin your year. Every gap in the concrete could cause a potential hazard. The nice part of this walker is that the handle bars are limited when turning - i think 120 degrees. This is a good safety feature. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great knee scooter! *by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2017* I had ankle/foot fusion surgery which meant non-weight bearing for 8 weeks. I have been using this knee scooter for 5 weeks. It has been my life line and has worked great! It is so worth the money. It rolls well, is very sturdy, and I love having the basket. It also turns very well. It rolls well on the hardwood floors, carpet, but is a little bumpy on sidewalks, but that is due to the cracks or unevenness of the sidewalk. It was very easy to put together. It folds easily to put in the car, but I cannot get it out by myself. My only concern is that the brakes are not real tight going down ramps. I borrowed an additional knee scooter (not this brand) for our upper level, and I don't feel very secure using it.
