This edition expands over previous editions by being a text, which includes exercises and self reviews with answer key. This book, in addition to CPT Assistant, is a must when preparing for coding certification exams. Since the first edition was published, I have included it in the bibliography of resources needed when preparing for any certification exam that includes CPT coding concepts and principles. Medical coding is complex, and no one resource will ever prepare one for certification or for an entry-level job as a medical coder or auditor. Many references are needed. I highly recommend this book.

I have used this book since it was first published by the AMA. This edition expands over previous editions by being a text, which includes exercises and self reviews with answer key. This book, in addition to CPT Assistant, is a must when preparing for coding certification exams. Since the first edition was published, I have included it in the bibliography of resources needed when preparing for any certification exam that includes CPT coding concepts and principles. Medical coding is complex, and no one resource will ever prepare one for certification or for an entry-level job as a medical coder or auditor. Many references are needed. I highly recommend this book.
