It made even slices (something my much more expensive wood slicer did not do). Problems: I read the reviews which stated that it slides around on the counter so I placed it on a silicone hot pad. Problem solved. I also discovered that it's a tiny bit too small for the loaves made in my bread machine so I had to squeeze the loaf slightly to slide it into the unit. But that was a minor problem. As soon as I removed the slice, it resumed its original shape. In short, I would recommend this slicer to anyone who wants an economical bread slicing guide. I gave it a test run shortly after it arrived to today and immediately notice an issue with the design. The slicer easily slides as I sawed through the bread. Luckily I had some left over rubber stick on bumpers that work great as grippy feet. Once on, I was able to slice through the bread with gadget no sliding around. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.
