I've had numerous types of black rice from several different countries yet the ones from Thailand ALWAYS rate the highest and its not surprising actually. Not only black rice but rice overall is best from Thailand be it black, red, brown, white, sweet, long, short, etc.This rice is of a higher quality in comparison to bestselling competitors who offer black rice that's "pretty" but not great at all in comparison to this rice. The rice cooks much more efficiently and each grain is basically the same consistency vs others. Its very tasty without having too hard of a bran layer which is found in other black rice; hull is definitely there so you're getting the fiber + nutrients, yet this rice seems to "unlock" more so than others, especially in a standard rice cooker. I'm guessing this may result in greater absorption of nutrients as the nutrients are somewhat hard to absorb due to harder bran layers which is common in unhulled rice.Very high quality rice that EXCEEDS the WHITE VINEGAR TEST to test black rice quality and anthocyanin antioxidant content: this rice turned white vinegar extremely dark red hue compared to barely noticeable color from other rice companies. This alone tells me this is a high quality and AUTHENTIC black rice as their are many coated rice products (anthocyanin coating added to brown rice) along with counterfeits on the market. I know my rice and know without a doubt this is one of the best varieties.Package was very nice and simple while also being vacuum sealed (Thailand seems to be the only country that packages black rice like this and most likely for good reason. Also tells me this is "Thai sourced" rice based on sealing.)Tip: any black rice you may come across, try taking roughly 30 grains and put them in a bowl with the bottom filled with white vinegar such that all grains are soaked. Initial swirl gives off light pink hue, indicating anthocyanins are present. Then space the grains out in the vinegar and let soak for 5-10 minutes; note DISPERSION PATTERN emanating from the individual grains where uniform and deep hues surrounding each grain indicating that this is indeed 100% authentic black rice with darker red coloring indicating higher anthocyanin content. Other bestselling brand from China failed miserably, unnamed American brand was quite decent, yet only the Thai varieties such as this exceed this test.Need I say more?! Read whatever reviews you'd like but this is a highly unbiased and knowledgeable review as most people don't know the difference between low quality black rice (even fakes) from high quality.Look at the deep red hues surrounding each grain in the picture (unflat plate is why center is less colored). This is what you want to see in black rice as most other rice hardly changes color or not all grains will dispense color and so consistency + color are the important things to look for in this test.
