Good Product
Fairly easy installation on my Mazda CX-5. Fits nice and snug, you barely know it's there. Heavy enough for the light loads my SUV can carry.

Well built hitch
Unlike others, the box the hitch came in was relatively unmanaged, and the hitch was in good shape inside. Itโs stout, and once attached fits perfectly under the bumper of my 2023 cx5. Install as others have mentioned can be tricky. I watched many videos and read a lot of the reviews here. Hereโs my 2 cents on the install: If you have a lift or ramps, it will make your life easier for sure. Others reported doing it without ramps so I installed it from the ground. Itโs a lot more awkward trying to angle and lift the hitch into place and under the bumper fascia with the small clearance from the ground with the exhaust lowered. Get a friend to help. While you can get creative and put it on yourself, even with my wife helping, we struggled a bit on the alignment of the hitch and getting the first bolts started with the two of us. Would be a lot harder just myself. I ended up using Jack stands to help support the hitch during this part of the install. Use packing tape for the washers as suggested in the videos. I read in one review where superglue was used and almost went that route. The hole in the washers is smaller than that on the hitch itself, and the tape allows a little bit of flex/movement in the washers to help finagle pulling the bolt through with the fish wire. I think having a truely fixed washer ups the chances of struggling getting both front and rear bolts to line up unless you get lucky on exactly where you glued the washer on. Overall, very doable diy, but there was some frustration and cursing during the install. The hitch is great, used it this weekend for my bike carrier! I plan to go back in a few weeks to make sure the bolts are still properly torqued down.

Great Trailer Hitch
Great hitch and very good quality. Fit my 2015 Mazda CX-5 perfectly. Easy to install. You can do it by yourself using an automotive floor jack like I did, but would be easier if you have help. Buy the Curt wiring harness too, very easy to install.

Curt trailer hitch
Very good quality and half the price of the same hitch at a trailer hitch installation shop. You will need 2 people to align it to the frame. Ask me how I know. Other than that, pretty easy job.

Perfect fit for Mazda cx5
Perfect fit for my Mazda CX5. Saved a lot of money doing this myself. Looks clean

Great installation instructions, poor packaging.
Vehicle: 2017 Mazda CX-5 purchased new in June 2018 Positive: Easy to install. Detailed instructions with pictures. For a first time installer, installation will take longer than it should. It took me almost 2 hours but if I did it again it should take less than an hour. I did use a couple of buckets flipped upside down with some variable thickness blocks to help hold it in position. I had the back of the vehicle raised on jack stands with the tires slightly off the ground. A second person would speed things up. Negative: Product packaging was terrible. It came with cardboard around the main bar on each side of the receiver and bare metal exposed for the end pieces. There were minimal scratches to the paint on the exposed areas. I did not remove the cardboard until I was ready to install and that is when I found paint chipped off on the edges where the cardboard had been rubbing. Rust will be a concern as I didn't have time to paint it and now I can't access it. There should have been bubble wrap around the entire item and/or been placed in a box.

Great hitch, but get a helper
The product is very good and looks great on my car. It's hidden except for the receiver, which is great. However, I spent many hours installing this on my 2023 CX5. I installed the last one on my 2016 CX5 in about an hour by myself, so this was more challenging. First, you need a helper. This thing is heavy and you need to install it above the exhaust, which you have tp lower before installing. I tried many ways to do this by myself using ratchet straps and jacks, but the center of gravity makes it hard to balance it. I saw a guy on YouTube do it himself with a scissor jack and a platform, but I just couldn't get it over the exhaust and hold it up by myself. Once I called my brother over, it was easier. The exhaust hangers are taken off to install it, but then the hitch is in the way to put them back on. I removed the rear hangers completely and lubed up both the top and bottom and installed the top first and then the bottom and it went on pretty easy. It was helpful to use a hydraulic jack to lift up the car and put it on jack stands to make it a little more comfortable being under the car. Don't be like me and do it on a 90 degree sunny and humid day. I bought this in May, but waited until July to install it, and it was really hot. I hope I don't have to this again for another 10 years. The cost to have someone else install it was over $300, so I'm glad I was able to do it.

5-star hitch, 1-star instructions
Before ordering this I highly recommend checking out installation videos (Curt has a short video, but e-trailer has a great one online that's longer with a bit more detail ... Curt's video is for a 2020 and e-trailer is installing on a 2023 Mazda, but both are basically the same process as all the model years this hitch will fit). With a little research and advanced planning, the install only took me about 40 minutes, but here are some pointers: First, check the hardware - the threads on one of the carriage bolts in my package was totally messed up, so a quick trip to the local hardware store saved me the time of waiting on Curt to send a replacement. You want to make sure the hardware works, because once you start the install you're committed ... especially once that exhaust is dropped. Second, if you don't have a friend with a vehicle lift, find a new friend with a vehicle lift. If you don't make friends easily get a set of vehicle ramps. I have a friend with a lift, but unfortunately he was out of town but I was able to grab his ramps which were *almost* as good. I've installed other Curt hitches, the last was on our old Mazda CX-9 (now in the car graveyard), and this one for the CX-5 was a lot trickier ... you definitely need some space under the back end, so ramps are a must at a minimum. Third - throw away the included instructions. The pictures are barely legible, and are overall quite worthless. Opt instead for a how to video (again, e-trailer has a great one that walks through all the steps). One caveat though to that video ... I have a 2024 CX-5, and had to remove a few more plastic clips on the trim (don't lose them!!!) than older models apparently. Fourth, get some ratchet straps (and learn how to use them before crawling under the car and dropping the exhaust) which will hold the exhaust in place while the hitch is slid in position. Finally, if you're working on ramps you'll want 2 more sets of hands ... if you're on a lift you can get by with one extra set of hands. The details to fill in the blanks between my steps are all in the video, and since I put in the work to research the installation process before starting, I was able to complete it in about 40 minutes (it would have been less, but one of my 'helpers' was my 13 year old and I had to wait on him to get off the xbox). The hitch itself is 5-star, especially considering the dealership was going to charge 3 or 4 times the cost of this hitch to install a Mazda version. The instructions are complete junk, but most people that would take on this install probably are comfortable with watching online videos so I'm not docking any stars off my rating.

Hitch quality.
The product fit nicely in a CX5 Mazda 2024, this is class 3 hitch, came with all of the screws and washers to be mounted. It didn't required using drills or removing the rear bomper or anything like that, I just need a wrench to torque 4 nots in total, and a second person to hold it because is very narrow underneath the vehicle near the exhaust. Great quality so far so good!!

Great Hitch for a 2025 CX5
Very easy install. Out of all the hitches available for the 2025 cx5 this one seems to sit the highest, making a clean look.

Curt class 3 hitch.
Perfect fit , quality appears very good . From various posted videos on installation ; I would highly recommend to remove the muffler to install the hitch. Only two nuts to remove and makes it a whole lot easier than just dropping the muffler. Does take two people to position the hitch when bolting into place.
