I saw the 3D crystal puzzles and basically bought the cheapest one I could find, since we had never tried one before.First of all, this treasure box does not have a hinged lid, nor does the picture show that it does (at the time of this review.) The pieces arrive connected to a plastic frame and you have to twist/snap each piece off. This does leave a bit of a rough edge sometimes. There is an instruction sheet that will help if you want to kind of "cheat" and put the pieces in the order that they list. Otherwise, just start at the bottom and try to build a treasure chest, which is what we did.The pieces fit together pretty well, but sometimes we had to force them a bit. We didn't smooth out the rough edges first, so that might have had something to do with it. It wasn't terribly challenging, but it was still fun. We'll probably buy a few more of this type of puzzle. I do wish that I had seen that there is another treasure chest puzzle out there that does have the hinged lid and it's only a couple dollars more. Our kids would probably have liked playing with that one.Overall, this was a fun puzzle and I would recommend it for adults or older kids. ### ⭐⭐ No hinge *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 31, 2011* This treasure chest does not have the hinge, which was a big disappointment. The picture on the instruction sheet looks like the top is hinged to the bottom, so I found out the hard way (by completing the puzzle) that it's a lie. I can't return it at this point. There is a small space inside (30mm x 40mm x 30mm) to put the extra key in, but you would have to take the entire top off, which is not easy since the pieces are interlocked together making the opened surface uneven. Several pieces had smooth dents (poor manufacturing quality?), but it doesn't affect building the puzzle. The actual color looks more like orange than yellow. The instruction sheet shows all the pieces with a number on each, and it says to put them together in numeric order. This helped me tremendously, but it still took me almost an hour to complete. Without the instruction, it would be impossible for me to put all 43 pieces together. The numbers are not printed on the pieces themselves. The lock and the 2 keys are for decoration only (they are not functional).I was hoping this would be like the original treasure chest by Clearly Puzzled which does have the hinge. I have a Clearly Puzzled package (it was for Red Rose) that shows the treasure chest picture with the hinged top. The only one I could find online is currently priced $32, and it doesn't even show the hinged top on its picture. [...]Anyway, even for $5.95, I wouldn't have bought this puzzle had I known it doesn't have the hinged top. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ disappointed in the packaging *by E***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 5, 2013* I buy these types of puzzles for my son all the time. This particular one came with all the pieces attached to a scaffleding of other plastic pieces. When you carefully take them off there are still rough parts where they were attached.
