Once I got over the awkwardness of being seen doing them, I also realized how uncomfortable they are on the hip bones and pelvic area. This pad works great, and even allows protection when lifting heavy weights as well. Furthermore, I read a post above with a guy saying this is good for hip thrusters, but pad too wide for squats. I disagree 100%. I also find this to be the best pad I ever used for heavy squats as well. Most pads are too flimsy and move around alot. This one allows you to center the pad with the bar, and tighten the grip with the attached loops with velcro to tighten grip. Padding is comfortable, protective, but not too burdensome or bulky. Would recommend 100%. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great variation on a common product. *by G***R on January 16, 2018* As a gym owner, I know this piece of equipment is one of the most used and abused pieces. Most of these pads have integrated velcro and with the customers removing these and tossing them around hundreds of times a day, the stitching can only hold up for so long. I go through these pads about every 2 months. I was happy that this item popped up while I was shopping. With the velcro seperated from the actual foam or covering, I expect this will last much longer. Yanking on the velcro no longer is putting pressure on the pad or the cover.The pad fits the bar great and feels really good. I like the depression in the center as it creates a bit of a U shape to wrap around your neck. The price overall is great too. The straps may outlast the pad but that's fine. I can actually use these straps with the old pads where the velcro has worn out! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ An improvement from what I've used before *by C***L on May 12, 2019* It's better and thicker than the other barbell pads I've used, plus the straps keep it nicely in place while doing hip thrusts at 100kg. The cushioning prevents me from getting bruises but I'm not sure if it will continue to do so as I put on more weight on the barbell, as it gets just a little uncomfortable to use sometimes.
