## Description

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER In this “magical trip worth taking” (Associated Press), the New York Times bestselling author of In Five Years returns with a powerful novel about the transformational love between mothers and daughters set on the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. When Katy’s mother dies, she is left reeling. Carol wasn’t just Katy’s mom, but her best friend and first phone call. She had all the answers and now, when Katy needs her the most, she is gone. To make matters worse, their planned mother-daughter trip of a lifetime looms: to Positano, the magical town where Carol spent the summer right before she met Katy’s father. Katy has been waiting years for Carol to take her, and now she is faced with embarking on the adventure alone. But as soon as she steps foot on the Amalfi Coast, Katy begins to feel her mother’s spirit. Buoyed by the stunning waters, beautiful cliffsides, delightful residents, and, of course, delectable food, Katy feels herself coming back to life. And then Carol appears—in the flesh, healthy, sun-tanned, and thirty years old. Katy doesn’t understand what is happening, or how—all she can focus on is that she has somehow, impossibly, gotten her mother back. Over the course of one Italian summer, Katy gets to know Carol, not as her mother, but as the young woman before her. She is not exactly who Katy imagined she might be, however, and soon Katy must reconcile the mother who knew everything with the young woman who does not yet have a clue. “Rebecca Serle is known for her powerful stories that tug at the heartstrings—and her latest is just as unforgettable” ( Woman’s World ) as it effortlessly shows us how to move on after loss, and how the people we love never truly leave us.

Review: A must read of 2022 - Happy Pub Day! One Italian Summer has been my favorite read of 2022 thus far. This story will whisk you away to Italy and is sure to capture your heart. It’s a book about living your most authentic life, self discovery, and taking chances. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have read this one early. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It’s now available anywhere you purchase books. It’s also a Book of the Month Option for March. Below is my original review. • You guys…this book hit home for me. First off thank you so much to Atria books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. This was my first ARC and it did not disappoint. • At the heels of her mother’s death, Katy Silver takes a summer trip to Italy. A trip she was supposed to go on with her mother. Katy decides to leave everything behind and take the trip solo. Once she arrives she will discover more about herself in 2 weeks, than in her entire lifetime. • I related to both female characters Katy and Carol. While at very different places in their life, I felt parallels between their reality and my own. Katy and Carol are complex characters who are both at a crossroads in their life. These women didn’t always make the best decisions, but they are human after all. If you have ever questioned whether you are on the right path in life I think you will relate to this story. I don’t want to share too much more with risk of giving away spoilers. • Italy is a true love of mine. I had the pleasure of going the year I turned 21 and it was the trip of a lifetime. We stayed a few days in Positano and it felt like a place right out of a movie. Completely breathtaking. This book brought me back, and made me yearn to go again. • I loved everything about this book, I hope you do too. Thank you to Netgalley and Atria books for giving me the chance to read this book early in exchange for an honest review. This book is out now. Grab your copy today.
Review: A happy read. - Easy breezy and enjoyable.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A happy read.
*by J***P on April 20, 2026*

Easy breezy and enjoyable.

### ⭐⭐⭐ reflective magical realism
*by G***O on January 28, 2026*

I love Rebecca Serle’s writing. It’s a breeze to read through and it really transports you into the world. Overall, this book was so reflective. I truly felt the grief that Katy was feeling and understood and could relate to the feelings she had about her mother after losing her. There are some things you never stop and think about or question until perhaps it’s too late. Spoilers ahead: I loved the magical realism aspect of this book and the twists towards the end, however I really could not get on board with the cheating trope. Magical realism or not, I just didn’t like it. I didn’t like the disconnection with her husband from the beginning and then felt she was so unfair to him the entire time. It felt very selfish and unfair even though she was grieving. I can’t justify it because time travel or not, it actually happened and she was conscious of her betrayal as it was happening and then it was like it never happened. With all that being said, I understand the concept of her mother being her true love and herself feeling lost without her but I still can’t love past it. She was lost in her grief, I get it but I feel for Eric. I still very much enjoyed the book and the story. I loved the scenery and the writing.
