This item is a power strip, not a surge protector. Only a surge protector has a joule rating. The power strip is used only to power items, it does not offer surge protection.

Is the switch illuminated by LED, neon, or something else?

GE 6 outlet power strip with 12 ft cord, item 45195, does not have an illuminated on/off switch. The manufacturer's answer is apparently for a power strip 2-pack with 2 ft cords, item 14833. No idea why that answer was linked to item 45195.
