Best Investment - Perfect Every Time
I am thrilled to finally have this machine. It makes delicious fresh coffee and milk based drinks. You will see in my video that I add my favorite creamer before my latte brews. I like mine a little sweet, and that’s what works for me. I have bought some organic syrups and can’t wait to try those, too. It has been so much fun and a delicious experience getting to know my machine. I will try to keep my review list short and simple: Pros: *Makes a delicious coffee beverage (haven’t tried iced coffee yet, but I’m certain it won’t disappoint *Reminds you to clean the milk spout with a touch of a button when finished making your milk based drinks, as you will see in my video *Automatically does a quick rinse of the coffee/water spout when turned on or off, as you will see in my video (always keep a small cup there to catch the water) *Allows to reconfigure settings to your preference and memorizes the settings you chose - I.e. more water, less foam, etc. (you can find videos on how to change settings - super easy) *Has a decent sized water tank that provides multiple drinks before filling up again *VERY easy to learn and start making coffee right out of the box (just be sure to follow initial cleaning steps first) *Accommodates whole beans and ground coffee (be sure to read how to do ground coffee, as the machine is supposed to be on, can’t go over a certain amount at a time, etc. - easy to grasp but I want you to get it right) *Alerts when it’s time to refill water tank or remove coffee grounds from its disposal tank. *Very quick process and well worth the drink - it’s definitely a treat for my husband and me. *Has a hot water feature for teas, oatmeal, etc. You pick how much you need (no preset for that, I don’t think). Just be sure to have the hot water spout attached (original spout that you remove to attach the milk container for milk based drinks) *Very hot temperature, which I love. Just be aware and careful when you first brew and take that first sip. Temperature can be adjusted - just watch a YouTube video or read the manual to learn how. Cons: *Ive only found one, and I could be mistaken. But I don’t recall getting an alert when my beans needed refilled. I am new to ground beans and maybe it expects we know how many we should use. I don’t yet know, so I put enough beans in to cover the base. However, I could tell it was out during one of my drinks because I didn’t hear a strong grind. The drink was not good. Not a big deal, but it’s worth calling out if you’re wondering or like me and a newbie to whole beans. We will get it down! I love this machine, and I am so thankful it was on a deal. We splurged and got it for Christmas for us. My advice - don’t wait another morning without this machine. You deserve this; You won’t be disappointed.

My one touch barista
On the eve of International Coffee Day, I decided to upgrade my coffee setup and purchased the De'Longhi Maginifica Evo. Before that, my routine coffee fix was: a hario manual burr grinder (https://www.amazon.com/Hario-Skerton-Manual-Grinder-Ceramic/dp/B01MXJI90S), an AeroPress (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018RY8H0) and whole beans sourced from various roasters. Whenever I craved a true espresso/latte, I'd venture out to a local coffee shop. Since this Evo arrived, I haven't shelled out for an espresso based drinks - a statement in itself. Setup: My biggest concern when buying this was the size. I was worried about it occupying too much of premium real estate on our gadget heavy kitchen counter. Luckily I was able to find a perfect nook for Evo. It looks more substantially buffier and heavier than it actually is, and it fits in nicely. On the very first power on, I did need the manual to identify the water reservoir and understand the blinking leds. However, after the initial prep of cleaning, filling the water and bean hopper, and running couple of initial test cycles, I quickly understood the basics. Evo is designed for simplicity, and to cut ambiguity. Within half an hour of initial unboxing, we had our first cup out of Evo. Brew performance and quality: First drink I tried was an espresso, of course. I used default grind setting (coarsest) with Lavazza beans (https://www.amazon.com/Lavazza-Espresso-Coffee-Medium-2-2-Pound/dp/B00P0ZMWEC/?th=1). I was delighted to see a rich, stable crema form on the top. Brew was smooth. Once done, no drops from the latte nozzles. From the reseach I'd done on Evo, the most talked-about feature is its ability to produce barista style lattes. I filled the included milk carafe with whole milk, and pressed Latte Macchiato. The result was a work of art: a creamy, frothy top, a beautiful brown layer of espresso in the middle and clean white base of milk at the bottom. It was mesmerizing to watch it work the very first time. I timed, and Evo took about 45 seconds to make a coffee from cold start in the morning. Comparing that to my earlier setup which took about 7-9 minutes and manual effort, savings of time is the biggest convenience to me - note: I never had access to homemade lattes before. Another feature I love is configurability: "My Latte" lets you adjust the milk-to-espresso ratio to your taste preference. And you can of course control the coffee strength and grind coarseness to dial in the right taste. Cleaning: So far maintenance is also one touch. Press a button to clean out the left over milk in the tubes, empty the used coffee grounds, and rinse the containers used. Evo runs rinsing cycle every time there's a long time between brews. It's easy and straighforward. I am thrilled to have Evo at my disposal. A basic napkin math tells me I'd recuperate the cost of this machine within 6 months. Adding the conveniece, and I am really satisfied with the cost of owning this.

Unacceptable!
I rarely post reviews, but this one is necessary. The coffee itself is good and there are some nice features, but this machine is not acceptable at this price point. Here’s why: 1) It leaks constantly. When I contacted customer service, the rep suggested I was letting the steam catcher overflow from frothing milk. That’s not the case. I haven’t made a frothed milk drink in three months, and there is still a pool of water under the machine every single day. Enough water to soak my dish drying towels. The catch basin is completely dry, which also points to a separate design flaw: the basin itself is roughly the size of a standard bottle cap. Not exactly a well-thought-out feature. 2) The beans don’t funnel into the grinder properly. A significant amount gets stuck along three of the four sides of the hopper. If you don’t catch it in time, you end up with a weak, watery shot. This requires constant babysitting. 3) The used grounds tray fills at a wildly inconsistent rate. Sometimes it holds a normal amount. Other times it fills after just three pucks and locks you out of making another drink until you empty it. I’ve had this machine for six to eight months and my frustration grows with every use. To top it off, a customer service rep told me they will likely discontinue this model due to known issues and that I should watch my email for a recall notice. If the manufacturer already knows the product is defective, why is it still being marketed and sold?

Easy Espresso Express
I've been wanting to get an espresso machine for years. I've compared brands, read reviews, watched videos, and ultimately talked myself out of it. That was before I found the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo. This machine has everything I could possibly want. My main concern when I researched other machines was clean up and maintenance. I finally decided to get the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo after reading reviews about how easy it was to take care of. Once I got the machine, I found it even easier than I anticipated. Setup was a little daunting, but there were pictures to follow with the instructions. The brew on this thing is fantastic. I've been using a popular pod coffee maker for 15 years, so maybe this is just a shock to me, but I can't believe the body and abundant notes I get from every cup. I've tried just about all the brews. My personal favorite is coffee, ground from beans of course, with two shots of espresso. It's like an expensive coffee shop brew at home. The grinds fall into a drawer that you just dump afterwards, simple as that. I also like that there is a port to scoop ground coffee into if I want to switch up from my normal freshly ground beans. This thing truly has it all. One huge point I want to highlight is the frother. One of the most common complaints I see on other machines is how difficult the frother is to clean. Not on the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo. The bottle comes out and the assembly is so easy to rinse right out. When you get yours, do yourself a favor and search for some videos on how to change the brew temperature and all that. The De'Longhi Magnifica Evo is highly customizable. If you like fancy coffee shop brews, you will absolutely love this machine!

De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Automatic Espresso & Coffee Machine with Auto Milk Frother
Setting up this coffee machine takes a few steps, but once done correctly, it works well. First, clean and fill the water tank with drinking water, then test if hot water comes out properly. Next, activate the water filter by running water through it and checking that it flows from the small holes at the bottom. Move the blue slider to set the two month filter duration and place the filter securely in the tank. It's not always clear whether the filter is fully active, which can be a bit confusing. Before brewing, it's a good idea to test the machine to ensure everything functions as expected. The device can detect if milk is in the milk tank, and milk based drink options only appear when it senses milk. When using coffee powder, a full scoop (using the included spoon) helps the machine detect it properly. During testing, the machine made cappuccinos, lattes, and regular coffee with consistent quality. The milk frother works automatically for milk based drinks. For cappuccino, it first pours hot frothed milk into the cup and then adds the coffee, which comes out smooth and well balanced. Milk heats up quickly, and the water gets hot within about a minute. The machine has two spouts: one for hot water (which can also connect to the milk tank) and one for coffee. The water tank fits securely but can feel a little heavy when full, so handle it carefully to avoid spills. For first time users, it's important to follow the manual closely. Pressing multiple buttons at once can confuse the system and trigger error light. The machine doesn't always explain what the error means, so the best fix is usually to run a cleaning cycle and restart. The instruction guide covers most common problems and tips for making drinks correctly. Overall, this is a solid, well made coffee machine that delivers good results once you get used to it. The only challenge is dealing with occasional setup errors, which can feel a bit overwhelming at first. This machine is mostly made of plastic and tends to make some noise when it starts or during the grinding of beans. It’s lightweight and easy to move around. The brewed coffee grounds fall into the tray located beneath the machine, which should be cleaned regularly after each use. I’m still learning how to use it, as it occasionally shows an error light. All the external parts can be cleaned with tap water. The coffee infuser is located next to the water tank. To clean it, remove the water tank, open the door, and press the red buttons to pull the infuser out. Rinse it under running water and soak it for about 5 minutes. The manual also recommends not using any detergents to clean the infuser

Best Automatic Espresso Machine for the Price
This De'Longhi Magnifica is the best Automatic Espresso Machine you can buy in this Price Range. It has so many features and brews a Superior Espresso. You can use Fresh Whole Espresso Beans thanks to the built in Grinder or you can use a pre-ground coffee using the Scoop provided and the Scoop button. You are not limited to just Espresso but can make a full cup of coffee. Making coffee with fresh ground beans tastes far better then brewing from a pod. You can get hot water using the hot water dispenser accessory. It makes amazing cappuccino without the hassle of using a steam wand. The included Milk Dispenser is the best I have ever used that Automatically Steams and Froths milk. You can actually scoop up the foam with a spoon and turn it over without the bubbles falling off the spoon. It is extremely difficult to get that level of micro-bubbles even using a steam wand. You can scoop up the delicious foam to enjoy straight off the spoon as an extra bonus treat. The milk accessory seals tightly so you can store the left over milk in the fridge in the milk accessory container. It saves the hassle and time of having to clean and refill after every cup. Once a milk drink is done brewing you will have the clean button flashing. Using the clean button it will rinse out the milk nozzle with hot water to keep it clean and sanitized. It is a life saver feature. You get amazing crema on espresso shots. The grinder has adjustable grind size so you can dial in the perfect grind for your preferred beans. The water tank takes a filter that stops hard water build up and scaling inside the machine. Living in the Midwest, our water is extremely hard, so a filter is absolutely needed. You can enjoy Espresso, Cappuccino, Lattes and Iced Coffee with a push of the button that is far superior then you local coffee shop right at home. This model even comes with a brew over ice button. It will make the perfect concentration of espresso brewed over ice for optimal flavor. Your Iced Coffee beverage Creations are only limited by your imagination with this machine.

Best purchase decision
I’m sorry to have to update my review to say this machine had a sensor go bad and will now only make coffee and hot water. Any button that involves frothing will not come on. I have to say I’m thankful I purchased on Amazon. They took care of me getting a refund with no problem. Very impressed with them. As for Breville, they need to work on this common issue and do a redesign. The way the frothing container has to click in every time, it’s no wonder it broke so soon. Original review: This was the best decision. My husband and I have enjoyed this machine so much. It’s brought our coffee drinking routine to a whole new level. We no longer spend money at coffee shops like we used to do. Now when leaving the house make our own and take it with us. This machine is so easy to clean, easy to use, and a joy to own. It was worth every penny. It does feel a little loud in a quiet home first thing in the morning, but not enough to wake anyone sleeping. After reading all the reviews we did decide to only use distilled/filtered water and make sure to clean annd change filters each time the indicated light comes on. Now that I’ve owned this a couple of months I wouldn’t want to go back to a regular coffee/espresso machine. It just makes the mornings a little brighter.

I bought this particular machine because I trusted the DeLonghi brand but it broke after 5 weeks
Pros: ???? Cons: Broke after 5 weeks. Return closed on August 16, broke on August 22. Had this for 5 weeks and is completely inoperable already. Brewed espresso approximately 3x a week with this machine. 5 weeks after buying this machine the coffee ground light lit up (had previously lit up and emptied many times before this), I pulled the coffee ground bin to empty it and the piece pictured was sitting in the coffee ground bin. Seeing as this is an interior piece and is clearly broken off around the screw, I have not been able to fix this, nor have I attempted to brew coffee or espresso. The first time I contacted Amazon about this, the customer service representative had me send the pictures to an email address that was invalid. I kept informing him of this because the emails kept bouncing back, so my problem never got solved. I figured, I'd wait a day and try with someone else who was hopefully more competent. The second time I contacted Amazon about this, the customer service representative gave me the DeLonghi website and basically told me to resolve it myself. When I reached out to DeLonghi about this and emailed my pictures, the response I got was that they could not help me and that I would have to call an 800 number. After calling the 800 number and waiting on hold for over an hour, I am still stuck with a broken inoperable machine. I may as well have taken my $700 and thrown it in the trash. Beware that if your machine breaks you are SOL - Amazon won't help you, and DeLonghi clearly doesn't care since they already have your money. Seems awfully convenient for DeLonghi and Amazon that this broke right outside of the return window and if you can't get through to anyone on the phone I guess that means they don't have to honor the warranty. I bought this because I trusted the DeLonghi brand, but clearly they do not stand behind their products.
