Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL?S greatest and most complex characters. In search of his next big story, journalist Eddie Brock lands an exclusive interview with convicted murderer and death row inmate Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who discovers Eddie?s secret and becomes the host for Carnage, a menacing and terrifying symbiote. Review: A great movie. This trilogy breaks the mold of most Marvel movies. - I love this trilogy. Tom Hardy is an amazing actor, and the on screen chemistry between him and Venom is hysterical. Really underrated. This doesn't follow the cookie cutter Marvel movie formula. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Marvel movie. The 1st Iron man, Guardians and the Infinity Gauntlet series are some amazing movies. This one is just different. Venom is one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe, created by my all time favorite comic artist, Todd McFarlane. If it wasn't for his tiff with Marvel over creative control of Venom, we never would have had Spawn. Anyways, this trilogy is packed with action, laughs and a little love. Definitely worth at least a watch. And the man, Woody Harrelson, doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Really a well casted movie that's as good or better than the first. And please watch the third. This trilogy is amazing when you see the whole vision come together. Excellent work by the cast and crew. Thanks for making a fun movie that myself and my son love to watch together! Review: Loved it - Great movie

More enjoyable than the 1st although nothing special
Tom Hardy is excellent again as the titular anti-hero. Woody Harrelson who I typically love is miscast here. Nothing special however I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the 1st.

My least favorite Venom, but still head and shoulders above most movies.
Full disclosure: I love venom. It's one of my favorite franchises. I liked this one, but I feel like it was a bit open ended. So I'm hoping there is another. If you've watched the first 2, definitely watch this. If you haven't, don't. It's my least favorite Venom because I love the simplicity of just Eddie and his Symbiote. This one they made it seem easy to get a symbiote which I didn't love as much.

3.5 Stars *Good but could have been great!*
First of all - I need to premise this by disclosing that I really enjoy the Venom character. Yes, the character is very dark and definitely the "anti-hero" type but he does have some redeeming qualities and I enjoy the dark humor. Parents, I do think this movie should be rated R rather than PG-13. There is a TON of REALLY grotesque violence. In fact, the movie is 90% violence, 10% plot. I feel like this movie *REALLY* lacked character development across the board. Tons of action scenes that were engaging causes the movie to run at a very fast pace but it's acrually *too* fast. It's like key pieces were cut out. I will go into a bit more detail below about this. Also, if you are a Marvel Universe fan - definitely watch the post credit scene because it ties into the Avengers/Spiderman movies. SOME *ALMOST* SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT: This movie was super predictable so what I'm about to say really isn't much of a spoiler but I wanted to put the warning just in case you are the type to not want to know anything at all about the characters or film premise. In general, the characters lack any real depth. Everytime the script begins to show something interesting about the character, the scene cuts and they enter a fight scene. I really wish they had gone into more depth about why Carnage was red and why Venom specifically reacted to his color. Some type of backstory would have been interesting. I also wish they had explored Mrs. Chen's relationship/scenes with Venom more. In general, all of the characters were very underdeveloped - to the point that the ONLY thing that makes this movie good is the character development done in the first movie. If this movie didnt have the first movie's character development of the Venom character, it would be an awful movie. The script and characters just seem rushed and phoned-in. I would wait until the price really drops before adding it to your collection (If you are a Marvel Universe fan who is collecting all the movies) or renting it. If you are not interested in specifically collecting ALL movies in the Marvel Universe, skip purchasing this one - it's not worth watching twice. If you have Disney+, just wait until it's available to watch there. It's entertaining enough to watch but it isn't worth paying much for!
