I was looking for something to use with DoTerra oils without having to buy the really expensive doterra difussers. According to a doterra blog their difussers have the draw of using the right tech to keep your oils intact:"Nebulizing DiffusersA nebulizing diffuser breaks down the essential oil into tiny particles through the use of a high velocity, pressurized air stream and jet nozzle. When the essential oil is released, it goes into the air in a fine mist. This method does not alter the chemical composition—it diffuses the entire oil at once so you don’t get the more volatile components first and then the heavier later. The particle size is small enough to be easily inhaled.Pros: Nebulizers use no heat or water, yet disperse the entire oil into the air for optimal therapeutic benefits.Cons: Nebulizers are often the most expensive diffusers to use and sometimes to buy. Because these diffusers use only essential oil, they often also use more oil.Ultrasonic DiffusersThis popular type of diffuser uses water and electronic frequencies to create a fine mist from the essential oil and water. I may wrong but at leaSt it's not using heat or a fan.The buttons are easy to use, can use the diffuser or light on its own and I like how you can set a time for how long you want it to run.I also really like the sound it makes, it's like a very small, quiet water fountain.Only downside I can see to it is the needed weekly cleaning, but I haven't had to do that yet so I don't know how hard/easy it is yet.All in all, love it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars An "Essential" Product for Enthusiasts *by E***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2017* This is my 4th essential oil diffuser, and I was very deliberate about picking one that would actually last and wouldn't just break down after about 6 months. I've been using it for about a week now.So why did I (and why should you) pick this one?Aesthetics:Diffusers have gotten prettier over the years, but most of them still look like something you'd buy from a medical surplus store at a strip mall. The TomCare diffuser, though, has a cool modern geometric look that is nicely accented by the faux-wood elements. The light that this thing produces is enough to be eye-catching, but not so much as to be irritating, and the colors are vibrant and visually absorbing (especially if you're in an altered state, I'd imagine).But who cares about looks!? I don't, much, I wanted something that works.Quality:The unit I received felt heavier and more sturdy than any of the other diffusers I have owned so far. It is also roughly the same size, but with a vastly larger reservoir, which allows it to run longer. The plastic used is BPA free, and will not break down when exposed to citrus essential oils (I looked it up, and had to browse science journals to find this out, they really ought to advertise this feature). The wood accents are pretty obviously fake, but it doesn't look bad or tacky like you might expect it to. The buttons all feel nice and tactile, taking the outer shell off to refill the unit feels nice, it all fits together well. The power cable is a bit longer than most, which is helpful.Function:What can I say, this thing works great. I can set it to go when I leave for work in the morning, and by the time I get home 10-12 hours later, it's still running. Not only is it still running, it fills my entire 500sqft studio with the scent, and you can even smell it from outside with the doors and windows all shut. I love that I can control if the mist setting is high or low, because I can set it to low, let it run all day and have a mellow, relaxing scent fill the house over the day, or I can set the mist to high and get immediate relief from allergies and sinus congestion.Sound:I almost didn't mention this, but this diffuser is a little louder than some of the others I've owned, but not in (what I consider) a bad way- it sounds like a small fountain or almost like artificial rain noises. For some people this could be an issue, but I find the sounds it makes soothing, and I actually moved it nearer my bed so that it can help me fall asleep. If you need a silent diffuser, you may have second thoughts about this one (but buy it anyway, it's worth it).Simply put, this is the best diffuser I have ever owned, and I paid less for it than any of the other 3. I bought a larger diffuser first but returned it because the oils smelled rancid because it wasn't circulating properly. I then bought this little gem. I liked it so much I purchased one for the bedroom. If you get the floral scents they make the room smell nice. I found that certain oils have a strong odor that is irritating. Any oils used in this diffuser will be noticable as it works well. It's a space saving diffuser that can be placed anywhere and not be in the way. The different color lights on it are nice touch. This diffuser is extremely silent also. Fill it up and it will last a good 24 hours on high.
