Can the top be used as a stand alone rack? Or does it only work attached to the other rack?

The top can not be used alone it attaches to the bottom rack.

Is the drip tray only designed to face one side?

NO, it can face 360°. It has an integrated drip tray with 360 degrees swivel spout pivots to keep water flowing directly into the sink, not onto the countertop.

Will the central drain leak cause water to drain on the table top?

Will not.We have upgraded the product to solve the problem of leakage from the drain.

How high does the bottom tray stand up on the counter? I have an over-mount sink and need to know if the spout will be high enough to go over the lip
